Yay @lolo for your exciting anatomy scan and healthy little girl!
I have a growth scan ultrasound on the 13th and an OB appointment on the 20th. After that I should be going every week.

I had my first cervix check today and I am 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I know that's common for second babies, but with DD I was only a fingertip dilated by now so I am hoping that means baby will come in a timely manner! A mothers day baby would be nice, just sayin, BB2... Holy cow it's close! Do you have a labor buddy all lined up? Us THers need to be in the know!

All is well with the pumpkin. My due date is still a mystery (whether or not it's worth changing it), so they may order another ultrasound as we get closer to check for size. I've never gone past my due date, so they're not concerned. The longest part of the appointment was trying to get the heartbeat because he's so active these days. As soon as she's locate it and start timing, he'd flip and move away again. Next appointment is in early June, with glucose test to follow that. Serious question, will they really change a due date just because measurements are big? Even if you know for certain when you ovulated and conceived? I mean, even if the baby is measuring big, its gestational age is still the same regardless of size and still needs the same amount of time in the womb to develop, right? I always thought they only changed the due date when the baby was measuring differently than expected and the mom was iffy on dates. I've never had a due date change, so I have no idea how that works. At one point I was measuring two weeks ahead, but nothing changed. Now I'm right back on track. WHY IS IT SO CONFUSING?!?

I've never had a due date change, so I have no idea how that works. At one point I was measuring two weeks ahead, but nothing changed. Now I'm right back on track. WHY IS IT SO CONFUSING?!? I asked my MIL about this recently (she's a l&d nurse) and this is what she said: Oftentimes, they won't adjust the due date after ~12 weeks or so. Up until that point, babies grow at pretty much the same pace, so the formula they use is most accurate. After that, baby's growth can be influenced by hormones/diet/etc., so while the baby may measure ahead, the gestational age of the baby doesn't change. Thank you! I was really confused about this. I always get asked by family if my due date has changed after I have an ultrasound and I was honestly perplexed why it would change. It's not like I found out I was secretly pregnant a month before I thought I was.

They've given me 3 different dates (June 19th, 24th, and 21st) plus I know my O date (June 20th), but they're still sticking with June 19th which is based on my LMP. That's fine with me, because it gets me on Maternity Leave at my earliest possible date lol.

@jennylee I think at my OB they would change the due date if I was measuring more than 7 days off. It's confusing not to know your due date though! Even with my 4 very close possible EDDs I feel like I'm lying no matter what I say when people ask me my due date.

@lolo I used to say mid-late June. But people tend to ask for a specific date. So now I've been saying June 19th/20th/21st. Somewhere around there lol.

entropicbeauty How did your appointment go today? Is baby head down or still being stubborn?

nsweare - The appointment did not go as well as I had hoped. The midwife was having a difficult time getting a read on the baby's positioning, she thinks the head is more down than when she checked two weeks ago, but positioning still didn't seem ideal. In addition, I'm measuring the same as I was two weeks ago (measuring 34 at 38ish weeks), so she's having me go in for an ultrasound to see what's up. She said she wasn't worried (because I'm still getting lots of fetal movement and the heartbeat is strong), just wants to get a better idea of how the baby is doing. And yet, having the appointment not go well made me an emotional mess the rest of the afternoon. Urgh. This is understandable. Honestly the standard for a good appointment is absolute perfection. It sounds like your baby is fine, and I hope they can get you for an ultrasound quickly to put your mind at ease. Hugs.

Just got home from my ultrasound. BB2 is looking good! He's officially head down and weighing in at about 5 1/2 pounds, give or take a half pound. He's measuring exactly right on with every measurement. The tech said I'm on track to have a very average sized baby. The only hitch is it looks like he has my nose. My nose is NOT my best feature. It is hard to tell for sure though, it could just have been an angle. As with all my other ultrasounds he refused to show his full face for the camera. He kept putting his hands/arms across his face and turning away. I have yet to get a good picture of him. I did see what appeared to be a chubby cheek. I guess I'll just have to wait a few more weeks to see that little face!

I had an appointment last night. 3cm dilated and 70% effaced. My OB offered to set up an induction on Monday, so I (hopefully) have an end date in sight! My office is going to try to set it up this morning. It's more of an elective induction, but they think I am a good candidate for it to be successful, so hopefully labor & delivery can fit me in for Monday! Also, entropicbeauty, were you able to set up an ultrasound to peek in on baby? How exciting! Hopefully you don't even have to go through the induction and she'll come sometime this weekend.

Oof. Cervix checks HURT. They were all via ultrasound til now, today was the first manual one. Funny thing about seeing every doc in the practice though: this one trumped my doc's insistence on checking every two weeks, and is having me back in 4. Bwahaha. He said I'm measuring a little bit but still within normal. Overall, "very boring patient." Why thank you. Next time make sure you have a little stand-up routine prepared or something.
