1.) How far along are you?
2.) Symptoms, complaints, things that are making you happy?
3.) If you had a choice at a spa between a mani/pedi and facial, and a 2 hour massage, which one would you choose and why?

1.) How far along are you? Estimate is 5-6 weeks at this point. Subject to change, lol.2.) Symptoms, complaints, things that are making you happy? Symptoms: I'm freaking exhausted all the time. Complaints: I'm freaking exhausted all the time (LOL) and I totally don't remember being this exhausted with my first one. Then again, I am 21 years older than I was at that time. Things making me happy: DH and I got on the subject of names this weekend and I'm super happy that he had no issue with using my hyphenated last name for Spot.3.) If you had a choice at a spa between a mani/pedi and facial, and a 2 hour massage, which one would you choose and why? Can I have a mani/pedi and 1 hour massage? LOL, I've never had a facial so I don't know what they entail but I have pretty sensitive skin so I'm cautious about what I do to my face.

lovefuzzies, of course you can have the mani/pedi and 1 hr massage!! I also have very sensitive skin, and can't use scented products (lotions, creams, oils), but a lot of spas these days have sensitive skin facial options. I generally tell them of my sensitivities, and get a general hydrating treatment after they exfoliate and get a bunch of gunk out of my pores for me.

1) 38 weeks, 2 days. Soon someone else will be posting the initial weekly thread!!
2) Swollen, achey feet. Achey back from pressure, plus Chipmunchkin is regularly pressing on my low back. I had a previous low back injury, so I'm feeling some discomfort along the sciatic nerve on the left side. Mostly in my hip/butt, but on occasion down into my hamstrings. Been trying to sit in ways that alleviate the discomfort as much as possible. This may impact my plan to walk around during early labor, but DH has been good about gently rubbing my back and leg, making movement easier.
I've some stouffer's family sized "bake in 20 minutes" meals stocked in the freezer, plus 2 lbs of ground beef turned into taco seasoned meat with green peppers and onions, and portioned so DH and I can have a few quick tacos out of each container during the first week or so home with Chipmunchkin.
Learned that our hospital contracts with a company that offers to come in and do newborn photos in the hospital with you. Looking at their info, they've a good reputation, seem to have nice examples, and are significantly less pricy than most other photographers in the area. We're probably going to end up getting pics done by them, so I threw an extra blankie and a headband from my aunt in the baby's baggie in my go bag.
Go bag for the two of us (clothes, toiletries, my pump, etc) ready to go in the car; backpack with a few snacks for DH, backup charger, and an extra bag for odds and ends is ready too. Just need to put in the car seat tonight, and put these bags in the car, and we're fully prepared!
3) I'm not one for mani/pedis, so I'll take the 2 hour massage. Right now, the idea of someone working on my shoulders, back, legs, and feet for 2 hours sounds absolutely divine!
ETA: DH started getting texts over the weekend from cousins wanting to confirm my due date/ find out if Chipmunchkin has arrived yet. To head things off from my friends/family side, I'm sending out this photo every time I get a query of "are you in labor/had the baby/how do you feel?" as well as changed my facebook image to this....not my cat, but it's too perfect not to use.

lovefuzzies - I was exhausted my whole 1st tri. When the 2nd tri came I had so much energy. chipmunk - having frozen food ready is so helpful! And I love the picture of the cat! 3. I dont care that i am not pregnant i am still answering. Mani/pedi. My nails look horrible right now. Its been a few years since I had a professional one. I finally filled my nails on my hands yesterday. They were getting so long and not even. I never had a facial before but I want to try it out.

1.) How far along are you? 37 weeks tomorrow (!!) 2.) Symptoms, complaints, things that are making you happy? I'm alive. I'm huge. My ankles are swollen. I actually feel much better than I think I should, and better than I did a week ago, so I really won't complain. chipmunk yup, that hairless cat pict pretty much sums things up! I'm happy because I spent the weekend with my family and it was really nice and relaxing! I'm also happy because I slept pretty well last night for the first time in a while. 3.) If you had a choice at a spa between a mani/pedi and facial, and a 2 hour massage, which one would you choose and why? Massage, hands down! I love massages. I actually had one the week before last and now I want another one, stat! I've only had a few manicures in my life and honestly they don't do much for me. Ditto for pedicures, and I feel like I can do my own toes just as well as a professional. I've never had a facial before and add me to the sensitive skin club.

lovefuzzies I think I missed an announcement somewhere. Congrats! I wanted to be cautious knowing that there are board participants who struggle with infertility so I was pretty low-key about the announcement. I only got the confirmation last week and the end of the week was a complete roller coaster because my levels weren't where they needed to be and there was some concern. We're cautiously excited right now.

1. 15 weeks
2. I have had no MS the last 3 days so that is a plus. Just a little gaggy still after brushing my teeth. We announced on social media this morning so the excitement and support flowing in from family and friends has been very nice. I also am starting to show a little bump which makes me happy.
3. I could totally go for the hour pedi AND hour massage. My lower back and hips have been killing me, especially when I wake up in the morning. I have a prenatal massage scheduled for next week and I looked up some hip stretches that will hopefully help.

chipmunk - a few suggestions for your hospital bag that we used a lot are a nice blanket for H. My H was freezing, so he was happy to have it. And for myself, a big 20oz cup with a lid and straw. I was so happy to have one and not have to drink out of the tiny styrofoam ones they provided. Plus, the straw makes it easier to drink out of when you might not be feeling good enough to sit up totally straight for a few days. Thanks @sarahufl. I don't go anywhere without my big water cup and straw, so it'll be easy enough to throw that in the bag. As for a blanket- my mom made DH a flannel quilt when we were dating that fits him perfectly from neck to cover feet. It's already been put in the car for him (we packed the car with the go bag last night). He insisted on that one- the bright colors and fabric patterns are distinctive, plus he loves that quilt I'll be sure to get a photo of him holding Chipmunchkin, the two of them wrapped up in it

I suspect the sodium bicarbonate in toothpaste might have been the culprit. Hang in there!

Bring your own pillow to the hospital too,in a distinctive, not-white case so you can tell it apart. H wishes he'd packed warmer clothes because I had the AC cranked down to arctic blast. I was SO HOT. I've a feeling DH will steal my Snoogle pillow for use in the hospital...since he bought it for me, I suppose I will allow it. It's quite distinctive in shape, plus it's a lovely chocolate brown...I've also packed long pants, a long sleeved shirt, a hoodie, and several short sleeved shirts for him. He's the type to prefer wearing shorts and a t shirt, and then burrowing into a blanket or quilt. I'm the one who freezes all the time, haha!

chipmunk - slippers were the most useful thing I packed. I walked through the wing a lot after birth to get my unlimited supply of drinks and treats. I didn't feel like putting shoes on for that or for when I had to walk down the hall to watch the video before anyone could be discharged.

I was really happy to have flip flops at the hospital. I walked around the hall a lot and had no desire for real shoes. Flippies = standard attire in FL, regardless of summer

I've packed a bag of snack foods for DH for while I'm in labor, and provided both DH and my mom (who will be coming down when we let her know I'm in labor) with a list of all the restaurants (fast food and otherwise) nearby the hospital (plus there's a Publix....subs anyone?!) and already told them I reserve the right to request food from one of these locations if open post delivery.

DH and I discovered that if a foot is pushing out, and he gently rubs his fingertips over it, Chipmunchkin finds it "ticklish" and retracts/moves the foot. DH thinks this is hilarious, and will spend 15 minutes "tickling" her before getting into story reading mode (we are trying to read to her together every evening, and she enjoys his voice cadence in rhyming books, based on movement).
I'd join you in the chorus of "awwwwws" but...the past few times he's "tickled" her, she has either kneed me in her efforts to retract her foot as quickly as possible, or she's "dived" lower into my pelvis to "get away" from the tickles.....at this point, it kinda hurts!!!

Sigh....DH is once again bringing up whether I should have the epidural. He's freaked out by the idea of a needle in my spine, but doesn't seem to be getting the part where this is not his decision, it's mine.....
I'm getting to the point of exasperation (and pregnancy) where I'll offer to not have the epidural...IF I get to attach electrodes to his balls and every time a strong contraction hits, I get to press the button for the electrodes. In the alternative, he's welcome to let me shove a watermelon up his ass for him to then push out without drugs....

Despite my explaining to him what an epidural is early on in the pregnancy, it's only recently clicked with him that there will in fact be a needle going into my spine. Needles in spines freak him out, and as he's aware, I have a prior low back/spinal injury (bulged disk) and he's worried for my sake that something will go wrong causing me injury. It doesn't help that he's been reading horror stories of epidurals gone wrong, or that he learned my sister had 3 epidurals and all three wore off before Older Niece's arrival.
Most of the time his protectiveness of me is sweet and well intentioned, (he knows I'm more than capable of protecting myself) but right now it's annoying.

Your decision, not his, even if his intentions are good. You have a right to put your foot down about this. Good luck! Also, the anesthesiologist may help explain that the history of a bulged disk isn't a problem (it's basic anatomy - that needle shouldn't go anywhere near your disk).

chipmunk Definitely not his decision! My H was supportive of me trying to labor naturally, but also once I was actually experience the excruciating pain of labor he was also fully supportive of doing whatever possible to make me not be in pain.
