Good morning! I can't believe we're only five days from Christmas! I'm not sure the stocking stuffer I ordered for H will arrive in time, but it will just be that much more of a surprise when it appears in January. My break starts at lunch time tomorrow, and I need to get my chapter submitted before then. A coworker (who is also on the editorial board for a journal) just read through it, so I'm going to revise based on her comments. And then, off it goes . I could actually be published in a real book by a real publisher! How are you all doing today?

efmcc67 Woooo, for break! And best of luck with your chapter! When you're a published author, don't forget all of us little people who knew you way-back-when! Holy crap! It definitely doesn't even feel like Christmas, even though I've been blasting Christmas music 24/7. I really need the rest of this week to go quickly. I'm just kind of burned out, even though my job isn't super busy/challenging right now. I think everything else is catching up with me. I think it might be time for some homemade Bailey's, and a viewing of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

eba1012 , well, my "payment" will be one free copy of the book, but still exciting! I hear you on it not feeling like Christmas. It doesn't help that everything outside is currently covered in mud.

I'm in total denial that Christmas is so close. It doesn't really feel like Christmas here either. H and I aren't exchanging gifts. We don't have plans for the actual day at all. My parents won't be here until New Year's.
First day working from home. Loved my "commute" and getting "dressed" for work. Except H setup his laptop right next to me and he's on the phone. Go the fuck away. Thanks little baby Jesus for noise cancelling headphones.

I’m home sick. My cold got the better of me. I’m organizing wedding stuff in the meantime and putting the photo corners into our Polaroid scrapbook!

This is not Christmas-y at all! Yuck. I think the fact that we're not spending the holiday with our families is factoring in too. We celebrated early with ILs, which was nice, but we aren't celebrating with my family until the 28th. And my sister won't be there, which sucks. Oh well. Change is inevitable, right? I may also force H to go to ZooLights this weekend since my plans to go last week got canceled. I just want Christmas lights, dammit!

efmcc67 enjoy your break and good luck completing your chapter! I can't believe xmas is on Monday either. I realized this morning that based on my weekend plans, I'd like to hit the grocery store Friday night so I can have an avocado breakfast sandwich on Saturday, but that's probably a terrrrrrible idea. Sigh. I love those before a busy day. LINGERLONGER I watched the trailer for a Netflix series called Wormwood last night. I think I'm going to binge it in one sitting either next Tuesday or the Saturday before new years. It's about a man who is trying to prove his father's suicide is a CIA cover up due to his involvement in the MK-Ultra project. It sounds fascinating and disturbing, kind of like The Keepers was. Which made me think it was something you might enjoy and want to discuss, too. Let me know if you're interested.

righthandman, yep, that's why I generally only WFH on days that H will be at work. I've also stopped WFH quite as often because Alun works from home now, too. Dude's just loud. Like, when he takes breaks, he plays DDR. It's distracting AF. sunshine, I hope you're feeling better soon. eba1012, ((hugs). I definitely hear you. The first year I didn't see my family for Christmas was really weird, too. I'd been planning to, but the day before I was supposed to drive out, there was a bad ice storm that basically covered all of Ohio. I wasn't willing to risk it. It does get easier, though. Now, I really like the low-key holidays H and I have together.

Yay efmcc67! You're almost there! I ordered something for DH's birthday on the last day of a sale and picked the slowest shipping possible so that it wouldn't get here until after Christmas. His birthday is in January and we were talking the other day about how much it sucked having a birthday in January because no one really got him gifts, or they gave them to him on Christmas. So I thought I'd surprise him and do something nice. It's going to be here Friday. I addressed it to him because it's fun to get a surprise in the mail. Now I feel like it's ruined because his fucking birthday gift is going to be here for Christmas and he's going to open it as soon as it gets here. I think this is the first time in ever anyone has been upset about an order arriving early but I am. Lol. But at the same time I'm sort of excited. I ordered him a gift box from Penzey's because he loves to cook, so I will have super delicious food soon. I'm thinking of going out for a little bit today. I haven't been to our favorite brewery in well over a month so DH and I might go for a short time today. I'm so excited.

I got a notification about that the other day but I dismissed it and forgot to watch the trailer. Yay! I can't wait! Thanks for the heads up.

So we're going to sleep in, watch a lot of Netflix, and eat all of the food. I'm sure we'll Skype with our families at some point too, so it's not like I won't "see" them.

I'm sure YH will love the gift, LINGERLONGER ! I LOLed at being upset about it getting there early, but I totally understand what you mean. I hope you make it to the brewery! Maybe I can convince him not to open it? Lmao! No, he won't be able to control himself. At least I didn't mention anything about his birthday in the card. Now I just have to convince him it's not a Christmas present because we're not exchanging gifts.

I told him they could be his Christmas present, but that he couldn't open them until Christmas. He laughed, and they were already set up by the time I got home from work three days later (i.e. the day they arrived).

Oh yeah, if DH cared about electronics or would have any idea how to set up a monitor, that would totally be him. Maybe I'll get lucky and as soon as he opens it he'll start looking up recipes? Lol as of this moment this has become a selfish gift.

LINGERLONGER, when you want something to arrive on time, it won't, so I guess it follows that if you want something to arrive in January, it will show up in December. I'm sure YH will enjoy it, anyway. I love Penzey's. I ordered a giant bottle of vanilla from them a little while ago. I hope you have a good time at the brewery!

I have so far managed to keep him from tearing anything open, but every year, it's a fight. Like one year, on the 23rd, he was like, "Well, you know, it's almost Christmas, so you can just tell me now what my present is."
