I'm sorry your baby wasn't being cooperative. I agree with @jennylee -- you should still go out, even if it's someplace less expensive. It's a Thursday, so I can't imagine you'd have much trouble getting in most places without a reservation. Or even just bring home some takeout. Have a nice relaxing evening and allow yourself to be bummed.

Do the dinner anyway! Celebrate the 'everything else looking good!' My DS was the same way - he wasn't giving the info up on the u/s. I did have some complications, so ended up with regular biophysical profiles after that, and the FIRST THING WE SAW EVERY TIME was his penis. Every. Time. It became a joke with me and the technician. You could find out on a subsequent u/s. I don't know where you are, but in some larger centres there are 'commercial' places that do 3D ultrasounds and don't require a medical note. My cousin had one done where they recorded the heartbeat and put it into a stuffed bear, plus they got the 3D pics etc. I don't know if I'd do that, but I also know that I'd want to know too. I feel your pain - but you still should celebrate! We thought about going out anyway, but the truth is I just don't feel like it. Trust me, we're THRILLED that everything else looks good, but at the moment I'm just so bummed. Also, it's an expensive restaurant, so if we do get another shot we want to save it for that. Maybe we'll just do take out or something. Unless the doctor wants to try again we might not get another ultrasound for a long time, if at all. So I guess we'll see what the doctor decides and go from there. They do have 3D ultrasounds not too far from here, so that's always an option, but I'm on the fence between thinking they're cool and creepy lol. Thanks for helping me keep things in perspective. Rationally I know it's nothing to get so upset about, but I'm a hormonal pregnant lady... I think the photos from them are creepy and I wouldn't want to spend money on 3D photo/video/stuffed bear (what the actual fuck?) keepsakes. But if we were unable to determine gender at our regular ultrasound, I wouldn't think twice about paying a commercial facility so that we could find out.

I generally agree with them being creepy, but in this case, it gave my cousin some comfort. Her baby has a heart defect, and the 3D session was the closest thing they had to a 'normal' experience. At that place, they were like all the other parents, it wasn't one of the thousands of medical procedures they had to have - they were regular parents. Exception, not rule. Oh, I don't think a "vanity" ultrasound is creepy for whatever reason the couple chooses. I just think the photos/video look creepy when I'm subjected to someone else's and wouldn't want it to like hang on the fridge or put on FB. I totally get why your cousin wanted one.

Aw, silly Baby PandP being stubborn. Ditto the others that you can get a commercial one done if your doctor doesn't offer another one.
But hey, this does mean that you're about halfway done with the pregnancy! How does that feel?

PandPmeant2B, the first 8 months flew by for me, and then the last one was long and torturous. But in retrospect even that passes quickly. And I didn't feel baby kwith move consistently until I was about 6 months along - even then, it wasn't particularly strong until 7 or so months. Hopefully you'll start feeling those kicks and flips soon - they're pretty fun. Also, I heart Gizmo as a baby nickname!
