Anyone want to help me with a joint birthday party? We are having a party for both kids because their birthdays are so close together. It is at a local park in a pavilion, so decor is limited. DS will be 3 and likes construction machines. DD will be one and I'm not sure what she likes. I have ideas for DS, but I don't know how to incorporate DD in it too.
I'd like the decor to be complimentary, so if it's red, orange, yellow, black for DS, I'd like similar colors for DD.
This may be impossible, but I thought I'd see if anyone had ideas. I have looked on Pinterest too.
also, I'm not a huge fan of pink.

The colors would compliment what you have going on for DS, and Sesame Street is completely appropriate for a one year old.

You don't need a "theme" - you can just do primary color balloons, streamers, cups/plates, etc and then have cupcakes for everyone. Then get 2 smaller cakes for candles for each child with their names on them.
Water balloons, water guns, a pinata.
I think it sounds awesome and I wouldn't worry about a theme per say - just bright and colorful in primary colors. You can have her cake with lady bugs on the top and put a truck on his cake.

When is it? When my kids were that age, we did a clay pot painting thing and planted seeds. It was kind of a welcome to spring/summer thing, and the kids loved it. The end of July

I'd go with the primary colour theme a la @drexelkathy, or Sesame Street, personally. You can never have too much Sesame Street. Are you looking for activities too, or just a theme? Just colors/theme. Thanks! I have some ideas for activities, and since it's near a playground, there is always that to fall back on.

Ooh I like the digging equipment for him and bugs/flowers for her. Still decorate in primary colors - red for lady bugs, yellow for diggers, green for grass. Dirt cake for dessert, either one large trifle, individual cups, or cupcakes topped with Oreo crumbs and a gummy worm. Potted gerbera daisies with a matchbox-sized earthmover on top on the tables. Red balloons with black dots like ladybugs. Dollar store sand pail and shovel and a bag of gummy bugs as favors. I shall be hiring you for all future baby birthday party needs.
