Oh my lord ladies - this is way too complicated!
I don't have a regular OB. I've been going to an RE/fertility specialist for so long...I haven't had an OB. And now it is time to pick one so that I can get an initial appointment made so that I can "graduate" from my RE.
I know what hospital I want to deliver at - so I've gone on my insurance website and found the OBs that are associated with that hospital. I've also narrowed it down to the ones that are Tier 1 providers so that I will have to spend the least amount out of pocket (because they are in plan for my insurance, etc). But holy crow - I still have a ton to go through to make a decision.
This morning, I've called 3 practices so far and have eliminated those 3 based solely off of how poor the receptionist service was (I know that sounds crazy, but if I am going to be trusting these people then I want a pleasant, knowledgeable receptionist to deal with when I call in). Well...I eliminated 2 because of that reason and 1 because of office location (I don't want to have to go into center city Camden, NJ for the vast majority of my appointments. Camden isn't a good neighborhood and I don't want to have to go there if I don't have to - they have satellite offices that are closer to me, but they have minimal hours and the majority of the visits would be in Camden. Just not interested in going there)
Man...I wish I could just stay with my RE for the duration of this pregnancy. This finding an OB business sucks.
(insert pouting here)

Can your RE make some reccomendations off the list you've narrowed it down to? Surely having patients "graduate" is a regular thing for them.

@drexelkathy - I think eliminating an office because of your experience with the receptionist is a perfectly valid reason! It's so hard searching for an OB, and it can be easy to end up with one that seems great, but down the road ends up being totally different than expected. I am really lucky that I found an OB that I really love, but it was completely by accident. I had an appointment with an OB when I got pregnant last July and liked her well enough. When I started miscarrying she was on vacation, so I had to see someone else. The doctor I saw, who performed my D&C, and helped me through the miscarriage was amazing. I really clicked with her, so I switched to her and have been seeing her ever since. Unfortunately, that little anecdote doesn't help you much now, but I think it goes to show that when you find the right OB, you will know it.

My recs are in Monmouth too. My cousin is on your side of NJ... I am not sure exactly where you are but will ask her for the info.
ADDENDUM: She goes to the Women's group in Voorhees. Not sure if that helps but she likes them a lot.

I picked Cooper Hospital and found OBs that have their offices close to my town and also in Cherry Hill.
Feeling a sense of relief!
Cooper Hospital itself is in Camden - which is fine - but at least for the majority of my appointments will be closer to home vs. 45 minutes into Camden.
Yay!!!
