1. How far along are you? 13 weeks, 6 days
2. Vents/rants/AWs to share? I feel really good except for this pelvic pain. I've been googling and it matches the symptoms of Pelvic Girdle pain - so I'm going to ask the OB about it at my appointment tomorrow (my first actual OB appointment!). But I have more energy than I have had - so I'm happy about that. Now if only my stupid pelvis didn't hurt every time I move, I'd be a really happy camper.
3. What's on the agenda this week? My first OB appointment is tomorrow and I'm excited about that. I also have to go back to my RE to get thyroid bloodwork done. I'll probably do that tomorrow also (was supposed to go on Friday but I was without power and had left town to the IL's which was too far to travel just to get bloodwork). And lots of packing, packing, packing. I'm hoping to find a moving company for Monday - so crossing my fingers that actually works out.
Random:
What did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you became?
My grand plan was to go to law school, become an attorney and then go into politics. That didn't work out because I ran out of money! LOL. I'm glad though - couldn't imagine living that life now that I'm a bit older (funny how what you "think" you want when you're younger can be SO much different than what you want once you get older). I'm really enjoying doing consulting work/having my own company and being able to work from home. And I'm really looking forward to the flexibility that is going to offer once little man gets here.

1. Do I go by my O date or by the due date? From reading I know using my last period is not a good idea since my cycles were 33-35 days and those calculators assume your cycle is 28 days. (I know I am already getting annoying over here) According to FF I am 2 weeks + 4 days. For other sites that go by my due date they say 4 weeks 4 days. 2. Nope 3. I should more likely call my ob gyn this week. When is it typical to see your doctor for the first time when you become pregnant? I thought it was around 10 weeks, but DH thinks that is too long to wait.
Random: When I was in grade school I wanted to be a teacher. In middle school I wanted to be a marine biologist. I am now an industrial hygienist.

1. How far along are you? 8w6d or 9w since my due date was pushed back. 2. Vents/rants/AWs to share? Still on the mend from the weekend. Right now struggling with what to eat, because every choice I have doesn't appeal to me. Oh and all my favourite things are either making me nauseated or have heartburn. Fruit, chocolate, nutella, chicken, beef, etc. Even the fruity pops (like orange soda, cream soda and grape soda) that I practically lived on last pregnancy end up leaving an aftertaste in my mouth now. 3. What's on the agenda this week? It's my last week of freedom (I mean, maternity leave) this week. So I will be cuddling with Tadpole all day every day for the next few days, whether she wants to or not. Random: What did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you became? A doctor, and no it's not. I don't have the stomach for it and I feel like I'd get too attached to patients. Also wanted to be a pop star, but since I can't even carry a tune, I doubt that will happen either. snippet17, we typically go by the due date. ty. Then 4 weeks and 4 days.

1. How far along are you? 8w4d I had a dating ultrasound on Saturday and the due date has been bumped up by 2 days, which isn't much difference, but I'll take it. My H was at a seminar, so couldn't be there, but man was it cool. I was pretty stressed out about it, but seeing the heartbeat and fuzzy kidney bean has put my mind at ease a bit.
2. Vents/rants/AWs to share? I've been feeling pretty good, actually. Constipated, some breast soreness, no appetite, occasional nausea but nothing truly awful. Of course, my brain interpreted the lack of feeling awful as something being wrong. One thing I have found interesting is who I've felt comfortable telling that I'm pregnant. So far, H (of course), the yoga instructor (out of necessity) and a friend from work. My close friends- nope. My dad and his girlfriend who we see multiple times a week-nope. My cousin who is like a sister- nope. My work buddy has been a rock, though.
3. What's on the agenda this week? It's the first official week of summer break! I'm celebrating by going into work and organizing my classroom. Actually, it'll be fine since a few other teachers will be in, too. Otherwise, it's Canada Day on Wednesday, so H also has the day off. There's usually lots of outdoor music and fireworks in town, so we'll likely wander around and check some if it out. Then, on Thursday, I have my first actual (non-ultrasound, which is done at a separate facility) prenatal appointment.
Random:
What did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you became? When I was little, I wanted to be a firefighter since my next door neighbour was, then for years I wanted to be a vet. By highschool, I'd settled on teaching, which is what I do. I love it when I'm with the kids, but I hate, hate, hate the amount of paperwork/marking it generates. Overall, I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

It was easier for me to tell "strangers" than family and friends. I think it has something to do with trying to protect them in case something happened. For me, I didn't want anyone to "pity" me, and after my loss last fall, I heard it all (from the people I expected to). This time, we kept our news a secret longer than before with our inner circle. That's one advantage to living away from family; no one could see the obvious and only the people who 'had' to know in the earliest of days were privy to the information. I won't be surprised if DH doesn't tell everyone he knows about the pregnancy by the end of the week. I would rather wait until at least week 10 to tell family, but he has already told his parents, sister, and grandmother.

That could be part of it, certainly. The other part is that family will be intrusive with advice- well meaning, but intrusive. My friends are not kid people. At 36, I'm the youngest, and none of the other have kids or want them. In fact a few can't understand how I can bear to be with kids all day at work (I think I'd feel the same about being surrounded by just adults, to be honest).

Is it normal for a doctor to want to confirm the pregnancy before it does schedules other appointments? Mine won't let me schedule anything before the blood test.

Is it normal for a doctor to want to confirm the pregnancy before it does schedules other appointments? Mine won't let me schedule anything before the blood test. My OB sort of does this. The first appointment involves a urine screen (including pregnancy) and bloodwork, as well as a Pap smear. It's usually around the 8 week mark. My OB only has one doctor there full time and one there once a week, so I think they like to consolidate appointments as much as possible. That makes sense. I just had a pap at the beginning of the this month. My scheduled appointment is around my 9 week mark. I think I was just a way too emotional earlier today.

I guess it depends what "other" appointments you're trying to schedule, and when they want to schedule the blood test. Mine did confirmation and dating U/S at the same time, at 8 weeks. Initial confirmation with a pee stick first, then the ultrasound and quick chat, then a bunch of blood work. They normally do a Pap then but I'd just had one in December. My office doesn't like to have anyone come in until they can hear a heartbeat. I was able to schedule the following 3 or 4 appointments at once after that one was done. I hope mine does that. It is nice to be able to plan in advance. Doesn't help that I am really really bored at work this week. I am on a job-site, but the middle stages tend to be so boring. I have to be here, but there is usually not much for me to do. Which is fine since if there is too much for me to do that means there are issues on the job.
