Hello everyone! Thanks sarahufl for drawing my attention to this board. I'm a Treehouse newbie, almost-38-year-old never-pregnant newlywed, and just started TTC. Let's see how this goes...

Hello there - thanks to Sarahufl & Gingerlady, I'd also like to hang out around here. Just turned 40, recently married, TTC. Never thought I'd have kids so I never rushed, now I'm feeling a bit of pressure. I am enjoying forums where I can get real advice instead of the "aw honey, everything will be fine" stuff I get from family & friends. Hello & thanks for having us!

Welcome everyone.
How long have you been TTC? Do you take your temp. or use monitors to check when you O?

Thanks everyone! We just started seriously last month. My cycles are very regular so I pretty much know when I'm fertile but we haven't resorted to basal body temps, etc quite yet. The biggest challenge I see is getting me & my husband both in the same bed (he's gone for work quite a bit) and "in the mood" at the right time. And I worry about our age also. And the emotional side of it is tough... I got a lot more upset than I thought I would when I got my period a few days ago (after only one failed attempt!), and I suddenly realized this could be a long road.

I'm in a similar situation as Ginger. We also started TTC one month ago. I have to say though that I was relieved when I got my period a few days ago b/c I'm slightly terrified of becoming pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I really want to have a baby w/my husband and he with me, but I've got a good bit of anxiety about the process. I started taking BBT but I threw out my thermometer in frustration b/c I was getting insanely variable temps, like 92.3 one day, followed by a 94.2 the next. I'm not sure if this is normal - I haven't done a whole lot of self-education yet. I tried the O-predictor strips last month and got a "No" on all 8 of them. I've only been off BC for about 2.5 months so I'm not sure if that is affecting me.

We've been trying for almost 4 years and went through IVF last summer, which didn't take. We are considering using an egg donor but can't afford it right now, so we are just trying the old fashioned way for now, which is hard b/c my husband travels for work. I've never done the temp thing, but we do use the OPKs if he is home near the right time.

I have literally never had one show positive (and I have been pregnant twice, so I know I ovulate....) Yes, it has worked every time I've used them. I use Clear Blue Digital.
