I wouldn't bother with the monitor until you feel you need to. Maybe just use an OPK. It would be a huge lifestyle change for us if we went to one income, especially with the added expense of a child. I also wish the timing would be right so I'd have a baby right before school lets out for the summer b/c we do not get paid for maternity leave.

I am incredibly in awe of those of you who can/are moving full steam ahead with #2 in short progression. I feel like I'm literally loosing my shit from lack of sleep with #1 and the while I've always wanted 2, the thought of going insane from exhaustion makes me terrified. And feel like I must be a great big ol' wimp because everyone else seems to have the whole parenting thing under control when I feel like a complete nutbag. You are not a nutbag! Or maybe I am one too. DD is 3.5 and I still sometimes wonder why we had #2 so soon. And now I'm super exhausted and stressed and I wonder if it will always feel like this. Even though I know it won't. Anyway, I feel you.

We didn't start thinking or trying for #2 until D was about 15 months old. Sometimes I wonder is we should have waited but I like this age gap.
