Help keep me in check.
My family does surprise showers - I had one before my wedding and I know there is one in the works for baby. It's the first baby on my side, and I have a huge extended family, so I have been told I need to add things. This is an total first-world problem, I know.
I don't want to add stuff just to add stuff. Plead be honest with me here: is it super tacky to put stuff like nursing camis on there? They are obviously for me and not baby. I just feel weird about it.
With baby due in November and then Christmas right away, I am hesitant to add crap like toys and clothes just to add them. We have some clothes on there, mostly sleepers in various sizes, but really I know the grandparents will go nuts with that stuff anyway and I am hoping for some hand me downs from my BIL and SIL anyway.
Helppppp

I would think lots of non-clothing things that get dirty like blankets, sheets, burping cloths, bibs, bottles, those silicone tipped baby spoons, etc plus maybe some consumables like baby bath products. Oh and if you don't have one an ear or forehead thermometer.
I wouldn't side eye anything that makes BFing easier, the camis may be "for you" but making things easier for you is helpful for baby. If you need more items maybe books you'd like to read to baby?

FYI the nurse at our childcare class recommended against the ear thermometers... said it's really hard to get an accurate reading and most people don't use them right. She said rectal is most accurate but she recommends armpit (for obvious reasons). Interesting; learn something new every day!

Me again.
I have been planning to not get a diaper table. We bought a crib last night and all the sets we saw had a wooden dresser topper and then a changing pad inside the wooden thing.
Am I delusional for thinking that I can just use a changing pad right on the dresser? I think I have read elsewhere that you can attach a backing to make it not slippery.
(We also have a pack and play for our main floor)
I have no idea what I'm doing.

The dressers are the ones my parents bought me when I was a baby, but it will work with a changing pad on it and the backing. With the added medical expenses we are trying to save where it makes the most sense for time, space, and money. Specially since we will be one and done.

My sister registered for some sort of dresser topper like this one for her changing pad. The back edge hooks behind the dresser so it doesn't slide around and it's got an organizer on the side for whatever. I think she currently has a basket in the small slot filled with wipes and whatnot. Babies R Us has a ton of different widths/lengths/color choices available too so she was able to find something for her dresser even though it didn't come from the same store. Anyway, maybe it's because she's having a girl but she's been absolutely DROWNED in little girl clothing (most if it sized for 3-6 months and under) so I don't know how much value there is in actually registering for clothing. A lot of people (in our circle) seemed to buy it as part of their gift to her along with something practical. Same went for toys. She got a ton of teethers, stuffed animals, stroller toy things, and H and I have found a few really cute things for when she's older from local garage sales.

Yeah that's what we saw in the store and exactly what I don't want to spend $100 on.
