Previously over on TK, I had a pregnancy scare. I'd been off the pill due to screw ups by my OB/GYN and getting the order filled, and didn't have a period for 8 weeks. Turned out to be a false alarm.
I went off the pill at the beginning/middle of August, at my last cycle. DH and I agreed to start trying at the end of December. Since then, we've basically been irresponsible, no other contraceptive efforts, no natural planning.
It appears, based on the pee stick test I took today, (I realized I was late, and had a feeling) we're getting a surprise some time next year.
Not confirmed yet. I've now finally made an appointment with a local OB/GYN group for Monday for confirmatory testing and ultrasound. I'm terrified, and excited at the same time. This is way earlier than we planned, but any baby would be loved and cherished by us.
Anyone else feel, among the positive emotions, some level of fear/nervousness at having a baby?

Congrats!
Mine wasn't a surprise per se, but believe me I am still feeling those same emotions. The great news is that have time to adjust and game plan :-)

Yay! Congrats! Never been pregnant, but I would find it odd if you weren't a little terrified

Thanks ladies. DH has been told...he's running the emotional range from "cool, a baby" to "YAAY!" to "oh shit" to "looks like we gotta get ready for this". He's insisting that after the Monday confirmatory appointment, I schedule all future appointments for Wednesdays and Fridays, so he can be there for any ultrasound, etc. He did grumble about "well, guess I won't get a new car this year" (ours are both 10 years old, but well maintained, RAV4s. They were given to us by my folks. He can survive without the new car) before stating he wants to move up our time frame on redoing the downstairs flooring and the screening of the porch so I don't have to deal with the mess in later stages of pregnancy. So he's all over the board on this surprise, but overall the reaction was positive

An update! Saw the docs this morning, got my blood drawn, and an ultrasound. Based on the ultrasound, I'm about 5 weeks along- it's basically just a little blob of squish. Follow up appointment on the 16th of October with DH able to attend- I fully intend to get video footage of him freaking out with excitement. He's already talking about getting a guard dog for me and baby...Ummm, honey, we have 2 cats, what exactly do you think would happen with a dog in the mix?

I am surprised they do the ultrasound that early! In my practice you have to wait EIGHT WEEKS, which is basically torture. I think they did it because I asked for one. Have to check the insurance and whatnot, because the ultrasound was not included in the copay this time- want to make sure I'm not paying thru the nose every time.

If it wasn't for my surgery last month I wouldn't have gotten an ultrasound until somwhere between week 18-21. My doctor said regular ultrasounds are usually not covered in the first tri-mester except for the one for the genetics abnormality one. I think by now I had 3 external and 1 internal ultrasound.
