My next doctor's appoint is on October 1. This will be the first time H will get to hear the baby's heartbeat.
I will of course get my script for my ultrasounds and I will have those about 2-3 weeks after my appointment. They are usually filled up quickly and it hard right now to take off too much due to being the only employee in this office. I hope at least 1 new person starts next week so they can get trained in the Michigan office for 1-2 weeks.

Come on baby @lolo drop! ((hugs))
My doctor's appointment went well. I am finally gaining a little bit of weight. I don't believe I gained as much as it said since I was wearing work boots and this is my first appointment wearing them. They are at least 5 lbs where my regular shoes weight hardly anything.
I have all of my ultrasounds for the 15. So I will know more since I will find out if the baby is a he or a she. Plus it will tell us more about the quad screening. It is a 2 hour ultrasound appointment. That sounds so long to hold in pee!
My next regular OB appoint is on the 29. I saw one of the OBs that was there and preformed my surgery. She has told me she has been continuing to pray for us. She gave H and I both hugs.

@lolo - I am not a religious person and thought it was so sweet and kind of her to do. She is the sweetest.
I, also, got my flu shot today.

I have an ultra sound at 7:30 and another at 9:00 am tomorrow. Do I really need to hold in my bladder for that long?

I've an ultrasound on Friday at 8:30 am. DH is coming with. I'll only be about 8 weeks along, but since I couldn't recall my last cycle start date, they wanted to do a second one to confirm development so we can get a better idea of due date. Plus I also get to meet with one of the practitioners and have some follow up discussion of the blood work. Will probably schedule as many appointments in advance as I can at that point, including one in December to hopefully find out if it's a boy or a girl- will make the Christmas cards much more detailed if I can say on them "We wish you a lovely Christmas season......and a Happy New Year as we prepare for Baby Boy/Girl Chipmunk in X month, 2016!"

I'm jealous of early ultrasounds chipmunk... Right now this doesn't feel real because I'm basically just going off of a positive urine home pregnancy test and the fact that my period is now 2+ weeks late. My first REAL appointment isn't until 10wks in November, but I have an "intake" appointment with a nurse on 10/27 (8wks). This is basically just for history-taking as far as I know. No ultrasound or bloodwork. I was surprised but they said didn't recommend a dating ultrasound. I'll just have to be patient, which doesn't come easily to me!

gingerlady....the first ultrasound was because I insisted on it. We moved to our area in late June, and before suspecting I was pregnant, I'd looked at some different women's health groups, but had not yet chosen a Gyn, much less an OB/GYN. But the group I went with was the highest on my list in terms of experience, patient feedback, training, and hospital privileges. I wanted to be seen ASAP because 1) first pregnancy 2) potential high risk as I'm overweight/borderline obese and 3) before I realized I was pregnant, I was drinking wine and bourbon with DH at least once or twice per week; the Thursday before I took my stick test was DH's birthday, and we went to a wine tasting, where I had A LOT of wine. So I was freaking out that I'd unintentionally hurt my baby, and wanted medical reassurances. I got to be impressed with them today. I had to pay for my first ultrasound, and wasn't sure if it was due to it being a 1st trimester "outside normal timeframe" ultrasound thing, or something else. When I spoke to them previously, they said it was due to my insurance deductible and needing to meet a certain amount. One of their staffers called today to remind me of the appointment, and explained she'd done the insurance checks and whatnot, and I would have to pay for this ultrasound as well to meet the deductible, so here was the total cost for the upcoming ultrasound plus the copay, just so I wouldn't feel surprised or ambushed for money on Friday. The fact that a staff member took the extra step like that makes me like these people more.

I'm sure the drinking was okay though - I also drank all the way up until my BFP. It was my birthday weekend and DH and I were on a weekend away. Anyway, I totally trust my OB group, and they're convenient (it's the hospital I work at). I can see how it's not medically necessary, but I'm impatient! Good luck to you!

gingerlady - don't worry about it. My first appointment was not until week 9 or 10. The first trimester doesn't really have much going on other than some blood work. I wouldn't even have an ultrasound until now if it wasn't for my surgery in August. Due to your age (over 35) your insurance should cover a first trimester ultrasound.

So I had the appointment! Due a week later than initially thought in May, but that's ok.
DH had the best expression when I got up from the exam table after the ultrasound. Not exactly saucer eyes, but definitely widened eyes, blank expression, just staring at the screen of the little squish where moments ago, he saw a fluttering heartbeat. Poor man was in shock at "I helped make that!"
Met another of the OBs. Did a spectacular job of introducing myself by puking up breakfast in the sink moments before she walked in- first time this whole time frame I've actually puked. Wasn't pretty- I had green grapes for breakfast, and clogged the sink. I also threw up so hard I busted a blood vessel in my throat, so there was red in there with the green.
At the office now sipping water and trying to focus on work, but it's not happening very well...

chipmunk Glad your appointment went well! Your H's expression sounds priceless - I can totally picture the same look on my H's face. And don't worry, I'm sure you're not the first (or the last) to puke in the OB's office

chipmunk - you are more likely not the first one that threw up. I think I am going to upset the ultrasound people, but I am not going back there for another couple hour appointment so they can see other angles for the heart in a month. They saw the 4 chambers, etc. Plus they saw everything else for the Level 2 ultrasound and it looked good.

My maternit21 results all came back negative!! I know my ultrasound did not show any abnormalities, but it is nice to see these results, too.

I had my nurse intake today! Lots of history-taking mostly, so it was boring, but I have REAL appointments booked now - First OB visit 11/11 (~10wks), Genetics 11/16 (~11wks), ultrasound 11/30 (12 weeks). Phew. It's all starting to feel real and I'm getting excited! (and nervous!). I'll have genetic testing results back before Thanksgiving, which is what I'd hoped for because I'd like to share the news with family then.

Had my 37 week appointment this morning - I am 37+3 today. She did a cervical check and in her words "there is nothing happening down there"
Everything is still closed and "thick" as she put it.
Ugh. Come onnnnn

Come onnnnn That could all change in a day, you know! FWIW, I know somebody who was 4 cm for WEEKS. Her cervix made absolutely no change during that time. She would up being induced for low amniotic fluid levels at 39 weeks. Thank you :-) Intellectually I know this. But in real life it's a bit discouraging. And it makes me feel like I'm in this for the long haul.

Just try to remember that at this point, even "the long haul" is no more than 4 weeks. Compared to the journey you've been on, that's NOTHING. And yes, I hated people telling me things like that but from the other side, it's true. That little one will be in your arms before you know it! Thank you for this :-)

Come onnnnn When my sister had her first, she went to the OB and they basically said "nope, not happening any time soon" Her water broke about 8 hours later. Bless you.
