I like these analogies about first trimester being like having the flu and/or being hungover. That's totally what it's like. So. ready. for. this. to. be. over.
My DH is good about leaving my breasts alone right now, but he does like to rub my belly. Pre-pregnancy I was fine with that, but now I'm so snappy - no one touches my bloat!

My hands are ready for when I see my mom and aunt in a few weeks. If you even try to touch my stomach you will get slapped. The only people who can touch is the doctor, H, and myself everyone else will get slapped.

Ladies who have had a baby/are actively showing- did you invest in a fly swatter or some other tool to keep rude hands away from the bump? DH won't let me get a taser for that purpose....sigh... I crossed my arms a lot. Looking unapproachable generally keeps people away. Time to perfect a resting bitchface! That would not work on my mother, but slapping might. If not it will make me feel better. Now that my former co-worker is not longer with this company I work with all men. I don't have to worry about them touching my stomach nor do they ask questions other than how do I feel. Some of my clients are women, but it is not professional to touch someone's stomach and I don't ever seem them crossing that line.

@sarahufl, I saw that one too on Pinterest!
The only belly "touching" that has been permitted with my non existent bump and belly fat- DH and I will be snuggling, and he'll be kissing my hair/head, and will say "kisses for baby!" before gently moving down and giving soft kisses to my stomach where he thinks the munchkin is developing. It's adorable, so I don't swat at him for that.

It never bothered me when H touched the belly. I just felt bad becausr he throught he would feel the baby kick as soon as I felt it. But he is sweet and reads to the baby almost every night before bed.

I have a weight gain question. Do I only count my weight gain from my weight pre-pregnancy or do I count it from my lowest weight since getting pregnant or something else?

I have a weight gain question. Do I only count my weight gain from my weight pre-pregnancy or do I count it from my lowest weight since getting pregnant or something else? My doctor has a chart in her office that shows the recommended weight gain, it says to use pre-pregnancy weight to calculate how much to gain. Ty. That means I gained zero pounds. My goal due to my weight is only 12-15 pounds. Just wanted to make sure I don't mess anything up.

Ugh, you guys are making me nervous. I've gained 4-5 pounds already at 8 weeks. But it's got to be all water/bloat because I'm barely eating anything.

I am considered obese so I am trying to not gain much weight at one time. (Which is one of the reasons I am overly concerned about my weight) As long as your doctor is fine with it there is nothing to worry about. And you are still in your first trimester you could easily lose weight between appointments.

Wise advice, everyone. I haven't seen a doctor yet do I don't know what my recommended weight gain is! Technically my BMI is overweight (26) but I've weighed the same amount pretty much my whole life so I have no idea what my body will do. It's so strange! By the way, I'm about to be forced into telling my mom I'm pregnant. For some reason this feels strange and awkward and I'm really nervous... wish me luck

Same with the sex. Not sure why since it went over great.

Well I made my mom cry, in a good way I think She then made a comment about me being an "old lady having a baby". Hmmm... I suppose I'll let that slide. I am 38 after all... I think she stopped expecting this from me many years ago and I totally shocked her!

Thanks! This sounds reasonable. I'm sure my OB will give me recs when I (finally) meet her.

I felt it being awkward to tell my mom too. Same with the sex. Not sure why since it went over great. I felt really awkward with both parents. It took me 17 weeks to actually tell my brother..... And we still haven't cleared our parents to tell extended family/friends. And I will be 18 weeks tomorrow.... Extended family and friends won't hear anything until at least 18-20 weeks, after the anatomy scan. I wasn't going to tell any family until 12 weeks but my mom is visiting and she brought me two bottles of really nice wine... I had to tell her why I wasn't drinking it. I'm nervous having someone know. I feel like I've jinxed myself.

We were planning to not tell any extended family until 15 weeks but that of course didn't happen. Now when it comes to the sex of the baby some people will know and others will not.

We were going to give the go ahead at 16 but then I found out about the Single Umbilical Artery at 16 and decided I needed more info.... This makes sense. I've been thinking of you! When's your follow-up ultrasound?
