1) How far along are you?
2) Any gripes, complaints, compliments, or stories you have or have heard?
3) What is your favorite holiday food indulgence, and which one(s) must you avoid this season?

1) 13 weeks, 2 days. I am officially done with the 1st trimester!!! WOOOOOO!!!!
2) I'm freaking out at every little ache, spasm, or pain in my lower abdomen due to the hemorrhage, despite no spotting at all, because of the doctor's orders to take it easy. Even when these happen when I'm sitting down or laying down. Blaaargh.
3) Mashed potatoes (though I'll eat them outside of holidays), and hot chocolate. I will have to remind myself to go easy on the dark chocolate sea salt caramels, and will be banned from them if my gestational diabetes test comes back positive (I have to do it early due to my weight and my direct family history of diabetes....at 16 weeks, right before Christmas. Waaaaaaahhh).

1. 25w3d. 2. Just my usual complaints. Which could change depending on my results for my 2nd level two ultrasound. Hopefully they see everything this time. 3. I don't like holiday food. I have never liked holidays that are food centered. chipmunk - happy to hear no spotting but sucks that you have to do the diabetes test already. Side note I am surprised I didn't get mine done early due to being obese and my dad has diabetes. Edit: I should say I do love cookies but I was thinking more holiday only food like turkey, fish, and ham.

1) How far along are you? 11w3d 2) Any gripes, complaints, compliments, or stories you have or have heard? I'm waiting on test results, which is a bit stressful. I really just want to settle into this pregnancy for the long haul. I'm starting to get heartburn/indigestion, which isn't fun. Otherwise, I'm happy! 3) What is your favorite holiday food indulgence, and which one(s) must you avoid this season? Well this is obvious: wine, wine, and more wine. Boo hoo I AM looking forward to stuffing and gravy, and pies! I'm going to make a big tray of roasted root vegetables, which I love (carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, turnips), and cranberry relish.

Ah yes, the lack of wine at dinner. Sigh. No wine for me, but DH, Dad, and my Mom can certainly enjoy!

The lack of booze does suck. My family gets pretty drunk on Christmas eve and its a good time. More likely will miss ot due to both H and I working that day.

My family are pretty boozy at the holidays too. I know the Manhattans and wine will be flowing freely on Thursday evening, and I'm usually an eager participant. I'm going to be basically forced into telling the extended family I'm pregnant (even if I'm not ready).

I would just lie and say you have a migraine or something if someone askes. You do not need to tell extended family if you don't want to.

Haha. The likelihood of me ever doing a "cleanse" is close to zero Thanks for the advice though. You're absolutely right that no one should ever feel pressured to say something before they feel comfortable. I think, fortunately, I'm probably ready. I'm just awkward because AWing doesn't come naturally to me. I'm sort of the shy one in my family.

If you're shy, then don't say a word to them, just politely refuse if someone offers you a drink "No thanks, I don't want one right now." The observant ones will notice after a while that you are refusing all booze, and may jump to the correct conclusion.
The pushy ones who won't take no for an answer may be whacked with the turkey baster.

But yes, for pushy family members at the holiday, I'm fine with whacks via cooking utensils, save for 1) hitting them in the head with marble rolling pins and 2) stabbing them with the meat forks or carving knives. Because then you have brains and/or blood to clean up, and really, who wants to spend part of the evening soaking Great Grandma's best holiday tablecloth to get the marks out?

For anyone starting to shop for big baby items- Amazon is having a pre-black Friday sale on Graco strollers and car seats. I just bought a convertible all in one car seat for 50 bucks off normal Amazon pricing, and almost $100 less than what buybuybaby.com wanted for the same item.

I have already bought my crib and mattress with the huge sell target was having earlier in the fall. People are already baby shower shopping for me so I am holding off buying anything. There is already about 6 things bought off of my babiesrus registry.

I forgot I never really showed the nursery pictures yet. The room was already green when we moved in. (for some reason neither pictures show the actual paint color). The only things we bought were the pack n play (from fb), crib and mattress. Everything else is gifts or hand-me downs. There is still items we want to place on the walls, but that will wait until after the shower. We currently have a huge wedding picture up that we will need to move to another room. For some reason tinypic flipped the one picture. The blanket and stuffed bunny is on the bed until we get sheets.

So cute snippet! I'm jealous... we don't have a room to use as a nursery (living in a tiny apartment) so I won't get to do any of that fun decorating stuff. We need a bigger place but our lease is up June 1 (baby due June 7). It's therefore possible we may move when I'm 8+ months pregnant... that'll be fun. Or maybe we'll put it off for another year. Not gonna let it stress me out right now, but it does mean that we'll be getting the bare minimum baby stuff, which is good.

@ginderlady - Thanks and I can understand keeping it to a bare minimum. We were TTC when we bought this house and knew we would turn the spare bedroom into a nursery.
