Duddeeee, I failed m y 1-hour glucose test. Damnit. Not only do I not want to sit for the 3-hour one, I really don't want to hear I have GD! I failed my 1 hr with both M and P, but passed the 3 hr both times. Good luck.

@sarahufl - that sucks. I agree with pp. The failure rate of the one hour is high and it is only a screening. I hope you pass the 3 hour test.

Ugh, sorry @sarahufl! Good luck with the 3 hour.
So I was curious and looked up the statistics: failure rates for the 1 hour glucose tolerance test are 15-25% of all pregnancies. That's compared to 4% of pregnancies that are actually affected by gestational diabetes. So in other words - that's a REALLY high false positive rate! Apparently they set a really low threshold for failure because the test isn't very good. The 3 hour test is much more accurate but it would be really cumbersome to make all pregnant women take it so they have this first level screening test to start with. It sounds to me like a great way to raise the anxiety levels of a huge number of pregnant women...
Also, I HATE most sweet drinks - soda, juice, etc. The idea of having to drink that glucola makes me so nauseous. I'm kind of dreading it.

I chugged my drink down. I didn't taste the drink at the time but felt different because of it later on in the day. I highly suggest the chugging method (if you can do that).

I chugged mine both times. With DD I walked to the hospital so I was quite thirsty by the time I got there. This time I just drank it like I normally drink cold drinks. For me it wasn't the drinking part, it was not being able to drink water or anything afterwards. After a few minutes that stuff starts sticking to your throat and teeth. That sucks that they didn't let you drink anything. I was told I was allowed to drink water and I drank almost a full bottle in that hour.
