When is everyone's appointments this month?
My first appointment is on January 7. I think after that I start going in every 2 weeks. Which I will need a note for my employer for the every two week change and I will ask them for one for the every week change which will happen in February.

I have my anatomy scan on the 8th, and a follow up with one of the doctors in my group on the 13th.
I'll be bringing in my fmla paperwork at that time to cover my butt, and request a note from them so HR doesn't lose it completely when I use my banked sick leave time for a paid maternity leave.

I'm like chipmunk: anatomy scan on 1/7 and an OB appointment on 1/13.
Go baby swimmy! We're rooting for you this month!

I had my anatomy scan today and everything looks good! The OB was really nice and after I explained to her that I study birth defects she walked us through everything "Here's baby's lip - no cleft lip. Here are baby's kidneys - no hydronephrosis. Here's the cardiac outflow tract, and the ventricular septum, etc." She knew exactly what I needed to hear, and I'm so relieved, though I guess I get formal results at follow-up with my regular OB next week. And yes, he's definitely a BOY!

gingerlady - I am happy that your scan went well! Everything was good at my appointment today. I am measuring perfectly, haven't been gaining too much weight, and my pee test was good. I am now going every two weeks so my next appointment is January 21. No work restrictions yet, but sounds like I will be getting some soon. I guess they don't like women who are 36 weeks pregnant lifting 50 lbs. I forgot to add that she kept kicking the doppler thingy and the doctor had a hard time getting a heart beat. After she kicked it she swam away! At least she still has lots and lots of room in there and I heard her kick at least 4 times!

Glad to hear everything went well, snippet17. And yeah, lifting 50 lbs at 36 weeks is a no no Not yet an appointment, but they did say Friday that I would have to redo the diabetes testing when I'm further along. Sigh. I thought I could get away with no more of it after it was done last month. No such luck.

Glad to hear everything went well, snippet17 . And yeah, lifting 50 lbs at 36 weeks is a no no Not yet an appointment, but they did say Friday that I would have to redo the diabetes testing when I'm further along. Sigh. I thought I could get away with no more of it after it was done last month. No such luck. Why make you do it more than once? I thought yours seemed really early. They did me early (at 16 weeks) because of my weight, and because my dad is an insulin dependent diabetic. I have to confirm whether my main OB will make me do it again when I see her this week- the doctor last Friday who told me I'd have to do it again was talking to me as part of the anatomy scan is not part of the practice I see. Its the group my main OB referred me to for the scan because they specialize in high risk pregnancies, including in overweight and obese women, and had higher rez equipment.
Said referral OB also took it upon herself to tell me about all the increased risks of complications with my weight being what it is, and remind me to eat a balanced, healthy diet and get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day. Of course, she didn't read the part of my chart saying I've been told to take it super easy the past two months, due to the bleed they found in November, she just kept pushing the exercise as a way to get me stronger for labor. Well intentioned, but irritating at the presumption that I haven't read up on all the risks, am making efforts within my control to prevent complications, and implying the SOLE reason I was referred to them was because my OB wanted someone else to talk to me about my weight, instead of the preference for the higher rez equipment.
Sorry, rant over.
I think if I have to do the liquid sugar test again, it's going to be just as a final precaution to make sure I didn't develop GD later in the pregnancy.

@sarahufl yay for "textbook pregnancies"! I'd like one of those myself, please. @swimmy1988 ouch! yes, there is a dramatic difference in the skills of different phlebotomists. I think the one who tried to take my blood at my first appointment must have been in training, because she took like 3 attempts and kept failing. She then said "I'll have someone else take a look" and the next woman got it in less than 2 seconds. I've never had anyone say I'm a difficult stick before. I'm so pale that my veins are just sitting there calling "right here!". chipmunk good luck with the GD test!

What the fuuuuuck @swimmy1988 - It doesn't even look in the right damn spot. I know! That's where she stuck the needle! Usually people go for the veins in the middle. I get stuck towards the outer arm, but that's apparently because I'm a hard stick (or the staff is inept, idk). Still, I never get bruising like that! I'd have smacked the phlebotomist, @swimmy1988, who did that to me. I hope your bruise clears up soon.

I agree with everyone @swimmy1988 that looks that doesn't look like the right spot. It looks closer to where they put my iv at in my forarm.
I am usually a hard stick which I never understood since I am usually very pale and always try to keep hydrated. But since getting pregnant the lab hasn't had issues finding a vein. Either their techs are just that good or the places I been to before just suck.

Just had my OB check. My blood pressure is great, baby's heart rate is great, and I'm cleared to do more exercise than walking and household chores, woooo!
Next appointment in February, and at the next one after that, I do have to redo the diabetes test like everyone else at 28 weeks. Sigh.

Had my appointment today. At first I almost cried, because apparently I gained 4 pounds in a week and a half? I've been very sedentary, and eating all the things still even though I'm not working. But my doctor didn't mention it at all. I'm going to pick up tracking again on MFP, just to see how much I'm really eating. I'm GBS positive. But everything else looked normal. Baby's head was down and heartbeat was 154. Blood pressure and thyroid levels were normal. I mentioned my groin soreness, because it seems like it's there more often now. She said it's normal for a second baby - as the baby drops more, he's putting more pressure there. She compared it to spraining your ankle. First time it takes more work, but afterwards it doesn't take much to sprain it again. Have next appointment next Friday. Four pounds is nothing! You are growing a human! A new family member! It's all going to be okay, it's going to fall right off after he's born. You got this What bacon said. She is very wise and pretty.

Doctor's appointment went well. She is still measuring good, heart beat good, pee test good, etc. etc. Next appointment is February 4, which I will be getting a slip to say no more travel! YAY But I will have to take the strip B test. :/ Only gained .8 since my last appointment. And I have been to dq twice this week.
Found out that I won't get another ultrasound unless she is not growing properly.

@swimmy1988 At this point in the pregnancy the majority of that weight is almost definitely water, so don't worry about it! Your circulation doesn't work as well when you're near term so your tissues hang on to all that extra fluid. My best friend gained 15 pounds in the last two weeks of her pregnancy and she was freaking out, but it was all gone by 2 days postpartum.

I am hoping to win a free dq cake (they give away one every week). If I win and you don't mind traveling in a snow storm you can have a slice. H doesn't eat like ice cream cakes.
@swimmy1988 - you need the break from the 10k+ steps. You are almost due as long as yoir doctor doesn't have issues with the gain don't worry about it.
