Follow up on the "test those wipes in advance" comments- DH got to test them yesterday. He accidentally knocked over the box, and one of the packages tore when it caught on one of his tools. He says he mopped his face with one of them (was dismantling the treadmill at the time), and it worked really well, didn't rip, was moist without dripping, and the material of the wipe itself was relatively soft. So it looks like we have a winner for us. While most of the opened pack ended up in a sealed ziplock baggie, he did put some in the wipe dispenser he ordered to test that out too. I have a feeling we'll use those generally so we don't throw out dried out wipes. So much for my 3500 wipe supply count, but hey, there's more where they came from if it becomes necessary! Does this mean the treadmill is finally out of the room?!?! Yep, treadmill is out of the nursery, in the guest room.....and tripping the breaker again. fraaaack.
There's a nice big space for a crib now, but I'm maintaining the whole "I'm not doing SHIT in here until after I take my comp final March 4th." As much as possible. This does not prevent me from thinking up/pinning ideas on decorations and moving stuff around. Example: I saw these sheer white curtains in target for 20 bucks, I want to buy them, then dip dye with blues and greens getting gradually darker to the bottom, for a "waves" effect in this ocean themed nursery.
DH wants my Lane cedar chest with the padded bench top in Chipmunchkin's room as a place for other people to sit (right now it's just the rocking chair and my exercise ball, which will stay there for crunches during cry fest breaks). I HATE that chest- my Dad bought it for me when I was 12, and I've had to act grateful for it ever since. Plus, I think it's dangerous around a baby- the lid lifts, but does not have any kind of stabilization aside from leaning the pad against the wall.
Tl:dr- treadmill is out, I'm going to be a Pinterest Queen, and I'm in a battle over more shit going in that room than what I want in there.

There's no fro yo places near our hospital. But there is a Tim Hortons in the hospital. I've never been to a Tim Hortons, but if what I read online about it is correct, totally do Tim Hortons in lieu of froyo.

The equipment in question, a little more than a month after we moved into our house and set it up in the 3rd bedroom...and about 3 weeks before I got pregnant. Ha!

@swimmy1988 - What do the sweeps to do? And when do they usually start doing them?

I can't read this without creating a username, but whatever it is, it sounds scary.

I can't read this without creating a username, but whatever it is, it sounds scary. According to what doctor google it is not that bad. I had worst things done. But I doubt I will get one done unless I am at 40w or very close to it. (my week switches on the weekend)

I can't read this without creating a username, but whatever it is, it sounds scary. That's weird, I didn't need to do that. But yeah, they stick their hand WAY up there and separate the bag of water from the side of the uterus with their finger(s). It's supposed to trigger the hormones that start labor.

I'll take a GBS test any day, actually several hundred of them, before I let someone sweep my membranes... GBS testing and prophylactic antibiotics if you're positive are actually proven to decrease severe and life-threatening complications for your baby. Sign me up!

Also how is "Group B" strep different than "regular" strep? I pretty much had a constant case of strep as a kid. Even when I didn't show symptoms, it was still in my system. I haven't had an actual case of strep in my adulthood, but that still makes me nervous.

I haven't had an actual case of strep in my adulthood, but that still makes me nervous. It's a related bacteria. The type that causes strep throat is Group A strep. Group B is rarely pathogenic in adults (it just colonizes your GI tract and vagina) but in newborns it can cause pneumonia, meningitis, and blood infections - all of which are life-threatening. It's actually pretty uncommon to pass the bacteria to your baby if you have it, but they are at increased risk. The antibiotics given during labor can prevent that transmission.

(As an aside, lots of people are colonized with Group A strep too, but for some reason it doesn't cause throat infections in everyone. It's weird.)

@swimmy1988 - What do the sweeps to do? And when do they usually start doing them? snippet17 , it's when the doctor swirls your membranes, so their hands are way up there. It's super uncomfortable, but it can help move things along. They only start when you're near term, term, or overdue. Interesting. Its one I don't remember them going over in the birthing class I took. LMC - please DO NOT watch Business of being born or More Business of being born.

Guys how the hell do I get through this? I'm in a constant state of panic. Every little cramp. And I've been having quite a few. I'm convincing myself that I'm seeing spotting, but only on the tp. Now I've convinced myself that my boobs hurt less today. I'm so tired but I can't stay asleep.
I'm terrified something is going to happen.

Now I've convinced myself that my boobs hurt less today. I'm so tired but I can't stay asleep. I'm terrified something is going to happen. Stop the panic. It's not good for you, but it's completely normal in first week jitters (just ask my husband, he thought I was losing my mind). I know this has been a hard road for you, and you're naturally going to be paying even more attention to every little twitch or cramp or tiniest bit of discomfort. I'm not saying ignore all these feelings completely, but do try to do things that help you relax- soothing music, warm bath, shoulder rubs from DH (NO MASSAGES though...most places now won't touch you until you're past 13 weeks).
Before I realized I was pregnant, I had some nasty cramping, and I wanted to stick ice cubes in my bra. I thought it was because I'd gone off the pill a little more than a month prior, and my body was making up for the cramp free months with a vengeance. Nope, the cramping was due to a) implantation and b) my body reacting (without telling me) to the news of "hey, we're gonna grow a tiny person in here!" During my first trimester, if it wasn't life or death, I wasn't doing shit to accomplish something because I was physically exhausted yet mentally alert- no naps for me, and my OCD was making life oh so pleasant. I spent a number of weekends lying on the couch watching Netflix because of this.
One of our paralegals had a lot of reproductive health issues, and didn't believe it that she was pregnant. She went through the exact same feelings you did when it was confirmed- focused on cramps, convinced herself of spotting, soooore boobs, convincing self of less achy boobs, tired but waking up all the time during the night.
We are here for you, LMC, for every step of the way.

The first few weeks are really scary, and I'm sure even more so for you given everything you've been through. My advice is to just take it one day at a time. Unfortunately there's no way around it except through it. But know that by now the chance of that embryo sticking is higher than the chance of it failing to do so. Also, I read somewhere the mantra "Today, I am pregnant and I will enjoy it". That was helpful for me. Try to find things to distract yourself with too, if possible!
