I haven't yet started looking into a private sitter vs. childcare for September, mainly because DH is coming up on applications for shift changes in the next month or so, which could mean needing Chipmunchkin in care for an extra day or two during the week. (Right now, between my mom and DH's current schedule, we'd need care one day per week). Out of curiosity, I did look at the tuition costs at the premier prep school in our city (they only do middle and high school though), and nearly choked. The school wants a bit more than 7k per year than what we pay in our annual mortgage payments for a single year's tuition......I need to make waaaaay more money if we were going to consider that possibility in the future. Yup! I see nothing but public schools in my son's future. You have to be REALLY rich (like top 5% at least) to afford private education in Boston. We're choking enough on housing costs as it is. I'll be counting the days (and dollars) until Kindergarten.

I quickly found out that I should have gotten on wait list before we conceived. How crazy is that? I should probably go ahead and add number two to the list at C's school. I am surprised they have wait list for that long. I have heard that for some wait list you have to pay every week to be on it which is crazy to me. I would check out your county's ccis or another list for some home providers or places that usually do not have wait list but sometimes fill quickly. Depending on the amount of employees depends on how many newborns they can take which is why so many of these places have openings but none of newborns.

I had an appointment today. It was boring. I LOVE boring! Pee in a cup, blood pressure, weight, heartbeat, fundal height - all good! Next appointment is in 4 weeks, and will include my glucose screening test. No fasting necessary (yay!) I just hope I'm not jinxing myself with my offhand comments about my boring OB appointments.

I didn't have to fast for mine either, but I do highly suggest not eating anything sugary before your appointment. I chugged the drink down to make it easier. The size of the drink is between a regular shot and an Irish Car bomb. I did bring plain water with me to drink between the drink and when they took my blood. They said I could drink as much water as I wanted. Just not gum, candy, food, etc. between the drink and until they take ones blood.

My redo of the 1 hour is two weeks from tomorrow, at 8:15 in the morning. The first time, I was told to just have my normal breakfast so I could take my prenatal. This time, I was told to avoid "sugary" breakfast items, including cereal, fruit, or bread.
The taste and texture of eggs and bacon has been nasty to me all pregnancy, so I guess I'll stick it out, and afterwards make DH take me out for a big brunch (he has the day off, and I'm taking it off since it's the day after our wedding anniversary - when we both have to work- and we're going to celebrate being together).

They did tell me not to have anything sugary beforehand. My appointment is at 10am so I figure I can eat a regular breakfast at my normal 6:30ish and it should mostly be out of my system before the appointment. I'll try to resist eating a Snickers bar at 9:45

I like the idea of incorporating candy bars into my daily diet to "train" for the glucose test. I'm with @sarahufl though - I'm actually really nervous about the test. I would be SO upset if I got GD. It's not that I don't think it would be manageable or that I'd worry about the pregnancy as much as the fact that I'd know it increases my risk of diabetes later in life. Diabetes scares me more than almost every other common medical problem.

My doctor had weird requirements for the glucose test. I had to eat a high card, high starch dort for three days before, as well as drink a sugary drink and have a candy bar or a piece of dessert. I'm still convinced I was set up for failure. I think your doctor set you up for failure, too. I never even seen that on the babycenter boards and I seen crazy stuff on there.

I'm not comfortable with the idea of trying to "best the test", so I plan to just do what I normally do. My typical breakfast is yogurt and toast - neither low-carb nor high-carb. I figure if my body has some difficulty with insulin release I'd rather know about it. Like @swimmy1988 said - it would be nice to prevent those newborn low blood sugars if possible.

It is hard to actually beat the test. Plus they do test sugar levels at every appointment via the pee test. And you have high levels for one of those and passed the GD test they make you retake the GD test.

They do a standard urine dipstick test - it checks for the presence of protein, sugar, and markers of infection (blood, bacteria). It's not very sensitive for picking up sugar though because your blood sugar levels have to be pretty high for it to start spilling into your urine. It should definitely pick up a full-blown case of GD though.

I noticed all of the different colors so I was wondering what all it covered. Plus I seen a few months ago in my month board some girls suggesting not to get the GD test done if your sugar levels were low on your pee test. Which did not seem right to me and I had to do some research. I didn't research too much due to seeing these were the same people who were anti-vacs.

Appointment went well. No weight gain. She is measuring 39cm. Last week she was at 38cm. Heart rate still in the 140s.
Since I was closed it was upto me if I wanted to see if I was dilated. I was fine not being checked. They will check next week. And then we will discuss talking how I want to start the inducing procress for the following week.
The nurse and I were joking a bit. I said I keep telling the baby what days are nice weather days and she needs to come out then. Such as this weekend its in the 60s.

Had a check-up this morning, went well. I mentioned that I am going to visit my sister in Miami this weekend and my doctor said they usually suggest no travel after 32-34 weeks. I'll be 35 on Monday (oops). This was just my last opportunity to see my sister and her 2 girls before the baby comes and I couldn't pass it up. She said I am fine and provided a letter for the airlines that I am cleared- I always thought it was up to 36 weeks. Oh, well My doctor said no travel after 36 weeks and that is when she gave me a note for work. So I say you are good, but what do I know.

I know I am friends with a few on fb, but I more likely won't be posting on there until a day or two after the birth.
