Forgot to mention....during the shower, I received two adorable diaper cakes, plus a pack of newborn diapers. Once DH and I were both home, he was curious about everything, and I had to explain to him what a diaper cake was. His immediate question was "so do we actually use the diapers? Are they safe to use?" Bless that man, his only experience with similarly designed sanitary products (aside from toilet paper) has been my feminine products. He honestly believed diapers are individually wrapped up before being placed in the big packaging (much like a sanitary napkin), and that since the diapers in the cakes lacked that wrapping, that they were no longer sterile for use on the baby's bottom. It took a few minutes to stop laughing, but I finally got him reassured that the diapers were perfectly safe to use.

I just had to Google diaper cakes. Clearly I haven't been to many (or any, for that matter) baby showers.

But my sister and SIL both said that the quality of the diapers she uses are really bad and they suggested I actually don't use them to avoid some nasty messes down the line... I know one of the diaper cakes is Huggies brand- the person who made it also gave us the package of newborn diapers, and stated they were the same brand, but the cake was of the next size up from newborn.
But, overall, it was kind of them to do so, and the seriousness with which DH was concerned the diapers weren't "safe" simply because he thought they were supposed to be individually wrapped up like an Always pad was adorably funny.

I have been drinking Pedialyte or well the Rite Aid one starting yesterday morning. About 1.5 of them a day. It has been a God send. I think with my calorie intake has been so low. I think of Sunday I was lucky to take in 1000 calories and a lot of it was from liquids (juice, I didn't drink any soda) And thanks everyone. Plus I want her to wait a little because I worry I would want to wear one of those face masks in l&d again and wouldn't get to hold her until after I take all 5 doses of Tamiflu. I think everyone at H's work is going to be disappointed. Unless they seem something bad/concerning on my nst test tomorrow I do not see myself going into labor before March 10, which is the latest anyone in H's works baby pool picked. I wonder who gets the candy bar if no one wins. When we do a baby pool in my office, the winner is the closest guess without going over (price is right rules lol). I never worked for a company that ever did polls like this before. Working with only men has its down sides once in awhile and one misses out on office showers, etc.

It just depends on the baby. I know some people who can use genetic diapers and others can't use huggies. I used to get diaper cakes made from my one friend. She could do them fairly cheap since she is a manager at Rite aid and would buy supplies for them when they were at least 50% off and use her manager discount.

I have heard rumors that my co-workers may throw me a shower, but I've been to showers here before and they definitely don't involve diaper cakes or making guesses about your girth. I think it will be food and gifts (well, probably a BRU gift card if they do what they've done previously). I'm fine with that plan.

I did work with a company where the guys would schedule us for at least monthly happy hours. I miss those days.

My BFF is plotting a low key shower for next month. (Like I said, the office one was a total surprise. The best thing I could do was to just roll with it). BFF knows me exceptionally well....while she's insisting on throwing something, she's acquiesced to my request that it be very low key, more of a cookout or go out for lunch with a non nightmare inducing "welcome baby chipmunk" cake thrown in for good measure. No games, just good food, good conversation, and great people.
I predict DH and BFF's fiancee will spend most of the time grilling and talking beer....BFF's fiance does a lot of home brewing. The bromance with these two is strong.

The first time I made one, my H thought I was crazy and just could not grasp the idea. But now when I make them he will participate and help with ideas

I started having boob leakage Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. I guess I had it once last week too, but it was only on one side, and since DH had cuddled up next to me, I thought he drooled on me at some point in the night. Based on the evidence from yesterday morning, nope, it was all me.
Fortunately, it was a small amount, and I wear light weight cotton tank tops to sleep in, which absorbed whatever fluids were coming out right up, without it getting on the sheets.

chipmunk - I would let your doctor know. I am not sure if that is normal to have before you give birth.

Everything I've been reading states leaking can happen as early as 16 weeks. While it's much more common to have it start around the time of delivery, it is considered normal if you leak a little bit before then. It's only happened twice in a week and a half, very small amounts, just enough to create a noticeable little stiff patch in the fabric of my sleep tops, so I'm not too worried.

I remember some of the girls in my month board freaking out about it and going to the ER. But I should know better due to so many people on the month boards over reacting. Where as I have cabbage ready for myself when I get home to place inside my bra. Yes, I actually did buy the cabbage.

@jennylee - I agree.
I was going to post this on the main board but I know a lot of members are going through a lot so I want to be sensitive to their needs. But I keep going from excited to scared to omg I am going to have a baby. I couldn't sleep last night due to thinking omg Friday is the last full day of me being childfree. And how much things will have to change like I can't just go braless anymore around the house when the kid gets older. Or just randomly grab H's penis.

snippet17 LOL, thanks for making me laugh this morning! I know how you feel. I have a bit more time, but I still think "oh shit, what have I signed myself up for?" on a regular basis. You're going to be awesome though, just like we all will! And you'll find ways to do some penis-grabbing on the side
