Lots of hugs to you ladies! susanm sorry for CD1 and the delay in your workups. LMC and engr0308 I'm so sorry that you both have to deal with Rhogam shots on top of what you're already going through. I think that the window where administration is suggested is based on the available evidence (basically the timing that was used for the clinical studies), so it may be somewhat arbitrary, but it's also highly likely that giving it on the later side will still provide some level of protection. I think it's definitely worthwhile asking your doctor for their opinion though.

That's a good question that I don't know the answer to. The antibodies from the shot stay active in your body for quite a while, but I don't know exactly how long. I'd definitely ask your doctor - I suspect they have protocols for this type of situation.

Hugs all around today!
I had my doctor's appointment. We're good to go for TTC a month after our cruise. Looks like June will be our first month TTC!

So apparently my blood type is O-. Makes me feel like a dick that I haven't donated blood in a really long time. I have to go to the hospital to get a shot. Probably should have had it sooner. But.. I was still being treated, so.. I don't know, whatever. The point is, after a loss, apparently my body can create antibodies that would attack the blood of a baby if I became pregnant with a baby with a positive blood type. DH has no idea what his blood type is, so I'm going to get the shot. I'm guessing your case is different but my doctor told me they'll make every woman with a negative blood type get the shot because, "we have no way of knowing he's really the father." True story. DOH! This is true, but not exactly a professional thing for a doctor to say to a patient. The bigger issue is that many people don't accurately recall their blood type. I've spent my whole life telling people I'm O+. Nope, turns out I'm actually A+...

Yeah when I spoke with her she was like "Um sorry to ask but was it your husbands sperm used with your egg? Oh ok so we KNOW he's the father.." Ha I'm in the ER waiting. They are doing the antibody test now and getting the shot made up. I ran out of work to do that I brought with me so now I'm laying back and watching tv. I didn't think this would be a multi hour ordeal. I gotta get back to work.

Good news - The antibody test was negative. I had to lay around in the ER waiting for it. Luckily I brought some work to do... and when I was done with that, I watched basketball on TV. Stupid Cal.
Although it was negative, I still got the shot. It wasn't bad at all. The blood draw was way worse, and even that wasn't bad. Sometime before we start IVF, we'll be figuring out DH's blood type to see if we need to take this precaution in the future and make sure that we are prepared to do so.
