Good morning, ladies.
I had to scrape my car this morning, for the first time this year. Ugh. Can't we have more lovely fall weather before the frost starts, please?
I was feeling in a not awesome place yesterday, relating in large part to the (now deleted) posts in the Rants thread. The good news is that admin is on board with us making changes locally to eliminate biased terminology from library resources! So we'll be starting to have discussions soon about moving this process forward. I'm really happy and excited to be part of this.
In other news, my tenure paperwork draft is due today. Eep! I think it's looking pretty good. I've just got to upload it. My supervisor is also pressuring me to submit my article this week. I probably should, but this week feels awfully soon.
On the plus side, my only meeting on Friday was canceled. I'm strongly considering taking a personal day or half day. This week has already been nuts, and it's not even 10:00 am on Tuesday yet.
How are you all doing today?

I'm sorry yesterday was rough for you, efmcc67 . I'm so glad that your admin is on board with making changes though! That's a nice step in the right direction! Best of luck submitting everything! It's nerve-wracking, even when you know damn well that it's good. I fully support taking a personal day on Friday. It was chilly here this morning too. It was really tough getting out of my warm bed. Nothing super exciting going on. I'll be gone half the day tomorrow for our annual corporate meeting, so I'm trying to get a decent amount done today. (I really don't want to go to this meeting. I've gone every year for the past 3ish years, and it's super boring and completely unrelated to my job lol. Plus, it's awkward because I know exactly one other person there.)

After I posted, I realized that I'm actually free NEXT Friday, rather than this Friday. Oops. I think I'll definitely take that day off, though. I'll really need a day off by then. Good luck getting everything done today! I hope the corporate meeting isn't too much of a drag.

Remember how I mentioned that my tenure letter had to be printed, signed by the dean, and then scanned? This was already a stupid process, but it's creating some additional problems. Specifically, all of the hyperlinks in the letter are no longer links. They just look like it. I also can do a text search on the document. If I want to find a specific word, I have to read the whole damn thing.
wtf!

I’m sorry yesterday wasn’t great efmcc67. I missed your post, but I’m glad you guys are moving towards getting rid of biased terminology. Good luck submitting your paperwork and article! Corporate meetings can be so boring eba1012, specially when you don’t really know other people there. Do they at least serve food/drinks? We have a corporate meeting/update twice a year, and as boring as it is, at least they serve dinner and have an open bar. I need to get my butt out of bed and get dinner in the slow cooker. I’m making this: pinchofyum.com/crockpot-braised-beef-ragu-polenta. I can’t wait! It always turns out delicious!

It's usually ok, but they're hosting it at a different location this year, so we'll see. No booze though. I'll probably treat myself to a Diet Coke and extra dessert instead.

efmcc67 thank you for reminding me I need to order a new scraper. Good luck with the tenure letter and paper submission! eba1012 sorry about the meeting. I hope there's foood ravenclanna Beef ragu and polenta sounds amazing I woke up this morning to an email confirming that Stormy and I have a place in the next upcoming nosework trial! Yay! We're having some major issues at work. I suspect they're related to some upgrades that took place yesterday... So far, we've been able to stay pretty on top of fixing things, but it has the potential to turn into a rough day. I've been thinking about volunteering to be on-call the weekend of xmas. I don't normally participate in the on-call schedule, but I don't enjoy xmas and most of the people who handle on call have small children. I need to think about it some more.

ravenclanna You know...I haven't made that recipe in awhile. Hmmm... efmcc67 Good luck getting everything submitted! eba1012 Those corporate meetings sound like the town halls that my employer is so fond of...except ours are quarterly. At least they give us snacks. ven FX that today goes smoothly! It was like 44 yesterday am and maybe 50 today? It's going to be in the low 70s for the rest of the week. I'm not amused. I feel like winter is going to be particularly terrible this year. Oh, and I am going to see H this weekend. Yayyyy

H just texted to say he got burned at work. I'm trying to talk him into going to urgent care. He thinks it's just a first degree burn, but I say better to be cautious.

I'm so tired. I stayed up too late doing laundry and then I had an early meeting at school. I have French in an hour and then it's straight to work until midnight. I'm going to need a lot of coffee to get through today. efmcc67, I'm glad that you guys are going to be able to make changes to the terminology! I hope your H goes to get the burn checked out. ven, I think it's really nice of you to consider being on call so that someone won't have to be.

He's agreeing with me, fortunately. Sadly, I don't know if he'll be able to get off of work early. He's scheduled for another two hours. He's covered a lot of extra hours lately, so I'd hope that someone would be able to step up...

I remember the not-so-distant past when H worked a full day on a sprained knee because no one would come in and replace him so he could go to the doctor. People suck.

The good news: H's supervisor offered to cover. They will also likely cover his bills, since it happened at work.
