It may feel like Thursday, but yes, it's Wednesday.
I got my dossier submitted yesterday and pinged the Associate Dean to let her know. Things are underway! Now I'm trying to finish some other pending projects, including a review of some national policies, and maybe actually submitting my article (gulp!).
H took the bandages off of his burn this morning, and it's looking not too bad. I think prompt treatment helped. He's heading back to the doctor to get it checked again. He gave me more details last night. Apparently, a coffee urn backed up and started spewing grounds and freshly boiled water, so H was burned on, essentially, hot garbage. Later last night, he was talking on the phone with a friend who's currently off of work. He shattered his kneecap at work after slipping in sausage gravy. My circle seems to be having bizarre food-related injuries lately.
How are you all doing today?

Yes, it's only Wednesday. It's been the longest week ever. efmcc67 , I"m glad things are underway!! And I'm glad YH is healing quickly! Food is not y'alls friends lately We have our [freshman] high school interns in today and one is... intense & entitled. She keeps asking this guy about God & free will & predetermination; "Say we change our minds about something, does God know and already have the plan that we were supposed to change our minds?" She likes EXACT directions, keeps asking about our international office (there are only 2 people in a Sales office, you can't transfer there when you do time abroad in HS) BUT like balks at labor/busy work. She doesn't like doing research, scanning, collating, etc. Most of us DON'T find that kind of work fulfilling BUT ish needs to get done. Do you tell your teachers, "I don't find this unit interesting, is there something else I can do?" She's not gonna be a fit hahaha I forgot my Thank You notes from my shower and my mock-invitation. I need to get a butt-load of stamps and make sure my invites will find a regular double-stamp sufficient.

efmcc67 Glad his burn isn’t looking too bad! And yay for things being underway! sunshine That girl sounds incredibly immature. That doesn’t fly in the real world. I’m getting ready for my meeting and I feel like hot garbage. I’m pretty sure AF is on the way. Blah. The invitation says there’s going to be building involved. I really hate team building shit, and even more so when I don’t actually work with these people. Grumble grumble.

sunshine , she sounds ... fun. No one likes collating. That's why we have interns . The pre-determination and God stuff is just weird. I guess if she's inexperienced she just doesn't know you don't talk about that at work? And thinking she can transfer to the international office ... eba1012, ugh, I hate team building stuff. It never works, and when you don't work with these people, there's REALLY no point. I hope you feel better soon. I just heard from HR about the search I'm chairing. The number of applicants is not good. Ugh. I need to think about other places we can post this thing and try to drum up a little more interest.

I mean, she IS only 14 (I probably should have mentioned that) but I think I knew how to conduct myself in a place of business and follow directions by then.... I'm sorry you're feeling crappy. And team building with people you aren't on a team with is kind of a waste of time. Just have everyone grab coffee and shoot the breeze - that's just as much of a team building & GTKY exercise without the added stress of a ~group project~

I still knew at 14 that you don’t talk about religion in the workplace. Just no. This meeting is scheduled to be 4.5 hours long. And I’m guessing a good chunk of it will be “activities.” :/

Does she think her skills are that in demand?

It takes a special kind of gumption to think that you can be hired in international R&D in your field when you're a 14-year-old high school student.

I'm in a bit of a "shoving" match (well, nudging). I work in Dept A. My work affects the work of Dept B but they decide HOW they do "the thing." I helped on a presentation yesterday where a person from Dept B gave a step by step of how to do "the thing." Director of Dept B is saying Dept A should own the presentation (and the process). NOPE. Neither I nor my dept don't do ANY of that, never had, shouldn't, and we shouldn't really have a ~say~ in how Dept B does "the thing."
I'm here to help but I don't and shouldn't decide how to do "the thing" that works best for everyone.

(Not sure if that's the reasoning, just something I've seen before.)

I could do whatever but would end up screwing them all over - like possibly 60. So YOU own it! hahaha

So the large fire near me is nearly contained. We have been waiting for H's temporary license to arrive in the mail at his new job and they called yesterday to say that that state is not handing them out because it's no longer a state of emergency. So for him to start his job he has to buy the license up front wait FOUR weeks for it to arrive by mail and hope the position is still available. So that fucking sucks.

dirrtybutter, I'm glad you're safe! I'm sorry to hear about YH's job. That truly sucks. I hope things work out.

dirrtybutter I'm sorry about the licensing issue. Is there any way to expedite getting it in the mail? Four weeks is a long wait!
