Hey y'all,
so my cousin (the one who helped throw my shower, has been there for me a lot, etc). Is going in for a double mastectomy and reconstruction next week. I want to get her a "basket" of stuff but I"m not sure what.
She had a "small" case of Breast Cancer and since her mom & a mutual aunt had BC, and the procedure was covered, she's going that route.
She is VERY "It's not REALLY BC since I won't go through all of the radiation, etc." so I'd like to keep away from "survivor!" type stuff. (it's not her jam).
Does anyone know who has been through that type of surgery or other major surgery on the upper body?
What is helpful to have around after a major surgery, in general?
I'm thinking of possibly including (based on what I have on hand/can find): Body wipes dry shampoo claw hair clips lotion a book/Magazines cough drops lip balm nail polish a grabber/picker upper thing a warm button sweater/hoodie/zip up a face mask Freezer dinner or a GC for take out
More thoughts?

Stuff to do! Seriously, if you can hunk of anything she likes to do that she could do lying down. Recovering gets real boring really fast. I enjoy doing word puzzles, number puzzles, anything you could get a book of, since I imagine she will be sore attempting to move her arms much.
The body wipes are a great idea! One of the worst parts of recovery is not being able to shower.
Soft, warm slippers or socks would be nice.

Your list is great, and LINGERLONGER's suggestions are really good! Does she have a Kindle/Nook? Maybe a GC so she can download books? And maybe some of her favorite snacks?

I thought about that but she's like super health conscious. -_- Maybe I'll buy her some low-carb snackies. She's like "I want to make sure I look good for you're wedding" haha

The strawberry/spinach/cashew Larabars are delicious and I think low carb. There's definitely no added sugar.
Maybe a good reading pillow? Something firm enough to prop herself up with? For me, that would be the toughest part of being stuck in bed for a few days - it's hard to sit up comfortably (IMO).

I think you’ve got it covered. Maybe you could add in a small simple craft project or a little hand held game like Yahtzee?

I don't know how sore her arms may be, but perhaps like jdluvr said something simple and crafty? Is she into needlepoint or anything like that?

Ooh, maybe get her a couple of bags of apple chips. It's really easy to want to snack when you get bored, and after a time it can be hard to combat that faux hunger, so she might appreciate habing healthy snacks that will give her that satisfaction from munching without all the crap she wants to avoid.

They have one on Amazon called Colorful Cocks. LMFAO!
There's one called Fuckity Fuck Fuck Fuck. The first reviewer said they started tearing out the most offensive pages and then just had to throw the thing out and I'm fucking dying. Why would you buy a book by that name if cuss words offend you?!?!

Okay, lady, well most of us don't have aliens landing on our roofs, and our dogs aren't being annoyed by ghosts, so GFY.

Yeah, that's on you, stupid Amazon customer.

Yeah, that's on you, stupid Amazon customer. One time in college I ordered a "genie lamp" I assumed it was going to be, like, length of a pair of regular house hold scissors, like 6-7 in long and ~4-5 in tall. It was the size of a pair of kid scissors, like 3-4 inches long and maybe 2 inches tall. MY fault. Not EBay's.
