This is great. I'm going to share it with two of my close friends who are single and pregnant... They are having babies with donor sperm and, now that they are pregnant, are starting to worry about making friends as a single, older mom.

God so true. My kid is 10 and I still have no clue how to make parent friends. I did have some success by getting involved in Girl Scouts and PTO at school, but both are super time consuming. I quit PTO because it was way too dramatic and took up tons of my time.
Even with all of the volunteering, I really only have like one real mom friend and she is moving 6,000 miles away in two weeks so...
I think the best thing is to just let your kid make friends and you make your own friends. Being friends with other parents just because your kids are friends... it's largely unsatisfying.

I'm not a mom, but this is still something that I think about for the future! I plan on being a SAHM (when the time comes) and often consider how/where I will make friends, or if my only social companions will be my child and husband (ugh!).
