New forum, some new faces, let's play a basic "get to (re)know you" questions game.
1. What was your TK username, if your proboards name is different? Which TK boards did you frequent? 2. Are you engaged, already married, or just hanging out for the fun of it? 3. What are your Getting in Shape goals (weight loss, toning up, looking awesome in a bikini, etc.)? 4. What is your biggest challenge in sticking to your goals? 5. Favorite kind of comfort and/or cheat food (can include wine. It should always include wine)? 6. Any fitness or weight loss questions you'd like to ask?

1. What was your TK username, if your proboards name is different? Which TK boards did you frequent? kwitherington on the note, shorted it to kwith here. I was mostly on GIS, though I'd occasionally post on CC and E.
2. Are you engaged, already married, or just hanging out for the fun of it? Married September 1st last year. Now I'm just hanging out because I love my GISers
3. What are your Getting in Shape goals (weight loss, toning up, looking awesome in a bikini, etc.)? Currently, making a kickass baby kwith, and maintaining my health and fitness as much as possible for the next 6 months of pregnancy. After that, I'll get back to running / strength training / attempting to not eat two bags of sour patch kids a week.
4. What is your biggest challenge in sticking to your goals? Eh, no major challenges anymore. Early on it took a long time to learn proper food portions and better nutrition, but now I kind of have it down. It's not nearly as hard as it was two years ago.
5. Favorite kind of comfort and/or cheat food (can include wine. It should always include wine)? See the previously mentioned sour patch kids, and anything soury or vinegary. And sadly, not wine at the moment. I miss wine.
6. Any fitness or weight loss questions you'd like to ask? I just asked five, I think I'm good.

bwils35, diet pills and wraps are totally the way to go! If you want a quick fix that won't last and probably won't work well anyway. Thanks for asking! And I will totally post an ultrasound pic if people want to see it. I always get skeeved out when people post them on, like, Facebook when I have no choice but to see it when I log in, but you know I'll happily share. I'll just make the subject line very clear so anyone who doesn't want to see if can skip out?

I think Crossfit largely works so well for a lot of people because it's a specific program to follow. If they followed any other program that combined cardio and strength, they'd see similar results. I don't necessarily dismiss it, since like xcaly says if you're using good form then it can be a great way to get in shape. I think it just makes you focus on fitness in a goal-oriented way, which is always a key to success, in my mind.

1. Same username! I frequented GIS, October 2013 on and off, and lurked a bit on E. 2. Engaged! 3. I'd like to lose another few pounds, but mostly getting more fit and faster, and avoiding injury. I'm really into ultimate frisbee and am starting to love doing triathlons so my goals are to beat my previous times! 4. Motivation and timing. I'm really bad about coming home, sitting down on the couch/making dinner and then making up excuses for why I can't exercise after because I get lazy. I've been better about it as of late, mostly thanks to the motivation from the GIS board! 5. Yeah, wine. And mojitos. Also anything baked - a big weakness is I LOVE to bake, but then will eat 6 cookies in a day once I've baked them. Or half a pie. Mmmm, pie. bwils35 and @lobsters25 and @xcalygrl - I'm definitely not a crossfit expert, but FI is really into crossfit and has a home gym instead of going to classes. Watching what they do, I think some of the moves and the WODS (workouts of the day) are great, but I think there are so many injuries because of the focus on time - the goal is to churn out as many reps as possible within a given time period (or do a set number of reps as fast as you can). That leads to a lot of injury because people aren't focusing on form. Doing the workout itself without a focus on going too fast is a great, hard workout.

1. Tlanute, June2013 and Plus Size. Lurked on E. 2. Already married 3. I want to get back to a healthy weight and mantain it. (5'3" 230lbs) 4. My biggest challenge is just sticking with a healthy lifestyle. I have so much going on that sometimes I just cave and skip a workout or grab fast food for dinner. 5. Mint Milano Cookies - I love them sooooooo much! 6. None at the moment.

Hi missesa! I heart mint milano cookies, and now I kind of want some. I think a lot of us cave and skip workouts or grab easy dinners from time to time. One thing I like about this board is it's focused on creating an overall healthy lifestyle. So, sure, DH and I totally got Wendy's for lunch last weekend. But I didn't let Saturday's lunch become an excuse to eat terribly for the next week. I think we all find more success in the long run by allowing ourselves those occasional treats and breaks. Welcome! I hope you stick around!

1. What was your TK username, if your proboards name is different?Which TK boards did you frequent? Same username, Most of the main international boards.
2. Are you engaged, already married, or just hanging out for the fun of it? Married
3.What are your Getting in Shape goals (weight loss, toning up, looking awesome in a bikini, etc.)? I still need to lose about 15lbs to get to my goal weight, but more immediately my goal is to get back into a regular workout routine. It's been a snowball of stress and problems interrupting my routine, and then not working out leading to feeling crappy, which leads to MORE stress.
4.What is your biggest challenge in sticking to your goals? I do okay foodwise, but my biggest issue is motivation to work out. If I can get into the gym or even into workout clothes and get the DVD player or Wii on, then I'm good. But lately, between hospital visits, late hours at work, and general craziness, I just don't have the energy to even consider working out.
5.Favorite kind of comfort and/or cheat food (can include wine. It should always include wine)? Cape Cod with a bit of sprite or soda water.
6.Any fitness or weight loss questions you'd like to ask? I'd love any recommendations from anyone living with or knowing someone with Type 2 Diabetes. Especially tasty recipe resources.

I frequented GIS, CC, and E 2) engaged 3) I want to look awesome in a bikini for Hawaii 4) I get tired from sitting all day then don't feel like exercising. Then, if I skip too many days in a row, I get off track easily 5) wine!! I also love me some mojitos. I'm making a big batch of mojitos this weekend for a pool party after my bridal shower. I make a mean mojito

Winelover, can I come visit you in about a year and have one of your mojitos? That sounds amazing. I love mojitos.
Stage, my aunt was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes a few years back, and did a complete lifestyle overhaul afterward. I'll ask her if she has any recommendations.

@swimmy1988, marriage didn't feel different at all to DH and I. I felt like it was a little different to other people - there was a power in having a "husband" versus a boyfriend or fiance that I honestly wasn't completely comfortable with. But for the two of us, it made no difference.
Per fad diets, I actually don't know if I've ever mentioned this before, but I did Herbalife for a few months about six years ago before I knew anything about anything. I lost about ten pounds (since I was, ya know, starving myself) that of course immediately came back when I stopped buying the product. Sigh. I was so young and foolish.

Lose about 6 more pounds. Look freaking amazing! 4. I tend to get derailed by weekends. 5. Ice cream! For wine I like riesling and pinot noir. 6. This really isn't fitness related, but I started tracking my iron intake since I have been really tired lately and I know it can be an issue for vegetarians. I've been over the recommended amount basically every day. Is this a bad thing? I've also been over on protein every day. Can't wait for the next person to ask me where I get my protein! And now off to read the rest of the responses.

minion, I'd personally go with the regular gym, since it allows me to mix up my routine which I like. But I also don't really love classes like Crossfit and yoga, and am better at doing my own thing, so that influences my decision. lovelyheather, I don't think there's too many issues with going over on iron, as long as you're not crazy far over. But I honestly have no medical basis for that. Is it helping you be less tired?

minion - yoga all the way I've never tried hot yoga and don't think I want to. I've heard it can make you break out (because of the sweat) and my skin is sensitive as is, so I'll stick with regular yoga dvds in my living room. Eventually I'll go to a studio once I find one that isn't in the city. I like pilates as well.

kwith Sadly, it is not helping that much. I know part/most of the problem is that I have been going to bed about 30 minutes later than usual and then waking up frequently throughout the night. Usually I work 7:30-4, go running around 5-6, eat dinner around 7:30-8 and go to bed at 10. With it being hotter outside, I've switched when I eat dinner and go running. That has been the only major change in my life, so I assume that is what is messing with my sleep. It has been about 3 weeks and I would like to get back to sleeping for a full 8 hours any day now...So I've been looking for other possible problems. minion I'd choose a regular gym, but the only real gym stuff I do is lift weights 1-2 days per week. The rest of the time I am running outside. Whoever mentioned Mint Milano cookies...I love those! They are so good.

Thanks girls. I was doing power yoga for a long time, but I am not re evaluating where I want to be. I think a normally gym is probably where I get the best work out. My biggest problem is I will get stuck on the elliptical for like an hour or more. I rarely feel motivated to do anything else. I have a hard time getting out of the mind set of cardio burns a crap ton of calories = I can have nachos and ice cream when I get home.

@swimmy1988, marriage is absolutely no different from us. When people ask us what married life is like, H always says "just like living in sin, but more paperwork if I want to get rid of her." @hunyhette, I love my 24 hr gym. That's mostly because I get BORED with the same workout after awhile, so I like the variety of being able to do different cardio machines, lift weights, and have a classroom where I can take classes to break things up OR use DVDs for a personal "class". I don't remember who asked about fad diets, but I have on occasion done minor cleanses. Not the whole fasting and whatever, but actually adding extra natural fiber supplements to my daily diet twice a day. I don't do it to lose weight (and honestly don't lose more than a few lbs of water weight), but I have issues with bloating and GI discomfort sometimes. It's especially true now that I've been eating healthier if I go on a fast food bender for a week. I did try diet pills years ago (BAAAAD plan, especially for someone who has sleep issues anyway). And I spent about 6 months the year I graduated college chasing every "miracle" supplement out there. Garcinia, monkfruit, green coffee, you name it, I probably wasted money on it back in the day.
