I figured I'd create a thread for my review of the 21 Day Fix Extreme. I received the program in the mail today so I'll start with some initial impressions and then post daily updates starting on Monday.
Initial impressions...
1) The food containers are tiny! I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting but I guess they just looked significantly larger online. In reality, the largest container is probably about the size of my closed fist. Which is about right; I mean, when you look at those charts that show what real portion sizes should look like, they're usually a lot smaller than what we're all used to here in the super-sized USA.
2) The first flyer in the box states that you need a resistance band to do the workouts. It can be any band but they specifically recommend a pink 15 lbs band that BeachBody sells but isn't included in the package because it's part of some ultimate upgrade package that of course costs extra money. This upgrade package also brings two extra workouts that you can add to the base workout plan that comes in the regular package.
I find this whole upgrade nonsense incredibly annoying and shady. If you created a workout that requires a specific band, include it in the package. Don't tell me after I receive the initial package that I need to pay extra to get it. Especially since even if I'm willing to pay the extra cash to buy it, now I have to wait a whole extra week to get it after ordering it.
Fuck that noise. I'm buying a regular 15 lbs resistance band at Sports Authority tomorrow. You get no more of my money BeachBody!
3) Part of my reason for purchasing the Extreme program over the regular was because of the Countdown to Competition free gift. I assumed I'd be getting a book or booklet of some sort detailing how this trainer trains for a competition. I've tried training for a figure competition in the past so I was excited to see her plan.
It's literally like a brochure. A small, 4 page brochure with a sample day of her competition eating. And yeah, that's about it. It also includes a second option of how to use your containers to follow a more extreme diet.
Overall, I'm disappointed in the contents of the box but I'm hoping the quality of the program makes up for it. There's an eating plan booklet included in the box that I haven't had a chance to look at just yet. I'm assuming it has all the info regarding what I'm supposed to eat out of the enclosed containers. I have no intention of ordering or drinking any Shakeology, so hopefully that isn't another one of their "highly suggested requirements."
