So I am getting ready to start a baby registry and there are just way too many options! I need to go into a bigger city to actually look at stuff since our baby sections are so small up here, but in the meantime...
What do (did) you have on your registry? Moms, what things do you wish you put on your registry that you did not think of? Was there anything you were excited to get that you found useless when baby arrived? Anything I should wait on getting until after baby arrives? Swing vs. Jumper vs. Bouncer? Registry must haves? Favorite/not-so favorite places to Register? How many places did you register?
How about diapers? Any brand recommendations? Everyone says to "Stock Up" but I feel like every baby may be different and I will not know what brand I want to stock up on yet. Any to just downright avoid?

This is all awesome. Thanks for insight. I want all the things!!
I was planning on doing Target and Amazon since, well, target, but its also one of the only stores that if I needed to go into to return we have one local. I want to be able to see things first before just adding a bunch of stuff to my amazon registry that I have no clue what it really looks like (as much as possible, I know I will not see it all).
@daubachsgirl23 I will definitely baby wear since I will be bringing baby to work here and there. We are trying to move my job to be as much "at home" as I can, but I know there will be days I will still need to go in so thanks for that tip.

I had a ton of shit on there. At this moment I cannot think of anything I wished I added. I wasn't excited about it but wished I never got the babt monitor. Most useless thing we got. The only time we used it was when H and I were testing it out around the house. My one friend and I were talking about that at another friend's shower. Neither of us ever used ours. This friend has a soon to be 2 year old and has number two coming in November. T didn't like being swaddled. We gave all of the swaddles away at that shower. (My friend know they are handme downs). T likes the sleepsacks. We get ours at kmart. Kmart is are go to store when it comes to T but that is due to it better 5 minutes away vs 20 minutes for Target. And for taxed items its only 6% instead of 7%. T loves the expensive swing at daycare over the one at home. We only have a swing. But I second @lolo get one that has an ac adapter. Ours does, daycares does not.T fusses when the one at daycare does not go fast enough. They now had to atock up on batteries for T. She is the only one that uses the swing there. I registered at target and Bru. I prefer to shop for the big babt things in person over online. DON'T STOCK UP ON DIAPERS!! T is easy we just use pampers swaddlers due to liking having the color changing line. She is skinny so those fit her, if she gets chubby we will get her the huggie one with the line. But any work for her. T can use any wipes but not everyone is lucky. Don't stock up on bottles either. We lucked out that t took e ight to dr. Brown but not everyone lucks out to get the first one they try. We keep the pnp and swing downstairs. We also use it for a changing table. Her crib, changing table, rocking chairs, play mat, and tummy time mat is in her room. Bibs with snaps are the best. The valero ones are a Pita and stick to everything in the wash. Don't register for clothes. Hell other than sleeping clothes don't buy them. We were gifted 5 more outfits this weekend.

A plus about target registry. We have returned things to there that were not on our registry (such as 2 of the 3 the night you where born books) and since you have a registry there is no amount limit to what you return even without the recept.
Oh baby wearing is the best. One of the reasons my posts on here have typos is due to always baby wearing. It is great bonding time. She has cried when H has worn the carrier.

I'm seconding everything PPs have said. I will add we got cloth pre fold diapers and used those as burp cloths, they were fantastic. We got a diaper genie, and I don't think it is worth it. For me, the Boppy wasn't useful. I used it maybe 4 times. We never got a swing or a RNP, I wish we did for C.

My Mil gave us two packs but I think we need one more. We keep 4-5 at daycare, one in H's everyday diaper bag, 3 in the other diaper bag, and the rest at home (clean or dirty). Not a fan of drift laundry detergent for clothes. It smells great but doesn't take out formula stains. We just use cheap tide clean and clear or something like that.

T likes the boppy at daycare. I am not buying her one for home since I don't know if it will be similar to the swing, she likes it there and not at home. BUT I fold my pregnancy pillow in half and let her lay on that.
Ditto on not registering for the blankets. Our one dresser is full of blankets. Between receiving, quilts, etc. We even have 2-3 receiving and a regular one at daycare. Plus a few on the big rocking chair since there is no room. But some are some comfy and I wish could wrap my whole body around it.
Not sure if you plan to formula fed, but other than the bottles and a bottle brush I wouldn't buy anything else until you figure out the right routine for you. Also, after you find out what type of bottles you LO likes I would stick to buying 8 oz over buying 4 oz since some babies don't use 4 oz bottles longer than 2-3 months. And I wouldn't buy every nipple size right away after you find the correct bottle.

Amazon registry. We have prime, so we also got a welcome box once the registry was complete and some stuff was bought off of it. Plus, 15% off certain items as completion discount. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that books were not included for completion discount purposes. also, some breastfeeding supplies do qualify for the discount.
We ended up stocking up on diapers, desitin, and wipes in advance, but via our Costco membership. The hospital had pampers, we have huggies, and she seems to be doing fine with either.
Our pack n play was available on an amazon flash deal, and has already paid for itself. Go for one with a removable bassinet/changer - we are using it when downstairs, and its much easier for me in terms of bending over. A friend recommended the fisher price brand cradle swings, and Chipmunchkin's adopted grandma bought her the Snugapuppy- it's definitely a good investment thus far.
Things DH and my mom are actively out getting more of in our initial days home:
Aden cotton wraps/swaddles Binkies (I was given a pack, and she seems to prefer the one she got at the hospital during her 24 hour test) Cloth diapers for burp cloths a small pail for downstairs diapers

T at first only liked the one from the hospital (which is the same as the wubbanub ones and we were gifted two of those). Sometimes the only thing she will use as a binkie is a bottle nipple. She will sometimes take the dr. Brown binkies that are to feel just like the bottle nipple but its just not the same.

I am looking forward to the amazon welcome box too! Hope you and chipmunchkin are settling in at home well!

Ohhh I LOVE that top @lolo . I just finished nursing Norah during the day, which is good because I would be extremely tempted! I have about 4 more months of pumping at work but at least one more kid to go. :-D @sarahufl I know you were looking for dresses; I also bought this one. Looks like it runs a bit small so I'm hoping the medium fits but hey, $10. I wish they had this one in a medium. Aaaaaaand I almost bought this one. Those dresses are cute! I have a wedding to go to in August but since I don't know big I'll be I don't want to buy anything just yet. I am in trouble once I know if we are having a boy or girl-- I love baby clothes.

I know on target's and more likely amazon's registry, too, that one can add from some items that are not on their website. I highly recommend a waterproof blanket from www.rainbabygear.com/ We use it for a changing mat when we are out and about, to put over T when she is in the carseat and its raining, it can be used as a play mat. I got one for my shower and love it. Plus at the time they had chevron ones and it was blue (one of my favorite colors) so I love it. They also have really cute ponchos for kids.
