I love Haley (and Harper for what it's worth).
H & I have never had a serious conversation about baby names, except we have agreed that our names used as middle names was a possibility. Just getting H to talk about babies in our future is a win enough. I don't think I'll ever get him to talk about names prior to being pregnant. Took us a while to even agree on a name for our puppy, babies will be fun, lol.

Dh and I agreed on names before we got pregnant. It was easier compared to picking a nursery theme.
I like haley and harper.

She said she knows if it was up to her husband it would be batman theme nursery. She doesn't like that we started calling him uncle batman.

I really like the name Aurora - but with BF's last name it would sound like a mouth full of marbles (he has two R's) unless it was always in conjunction with a middle name - Aurora Lee Rrrawwrrrr. BF liked the name Alloy for a girl... I shot it down immediately, but then felt bad because it was the first time he'd ever shown interest in names. He's a welder, so he was like "She'd be like a mix of you and me!" - I'd ok with it for a middle name. For a boy I want to incorporate my grandfathers first or middle - Richard Russell. I like Haley, but TBH, with that spelling I'd think it was pronounced Hal-eee (ala Hallie Berry). Haley is one of those names like Brittany (Britany, Brittney, Britney, Britnee, Britni), Catherine (Kathryn, Cathryn, Katherine), or Michaela (Makayla, Mikayla) - there are so many spelling variants. If there's even 1 other spelling variant (like in my name) it's wrong about 30-40% of the time. It's just something you get used to. @snippet - a Friend's husband convinced their daughter to call her other friend "Auntie Poopoo" ... Sometimes things stick! We started calling the IL's dog Uncle Stinky. The dog even knows that is his name and will listen if you call him that! DH's dad doesn't like the name, but it is rare that he will let DH or MIL wash the dog.

H clearly isn't paying attention in class, so I made him talk baby names with me. We've got a good list going now: Girls: Karina, Siobhan, Vivienne, Alessandra Boys: Nolan (H isn't sold), Rhys, Theodore and Evan I like Nolan a lot.

Am I the weirdo who has the same name no matter if the baby is a boy or girl?
Only the middle name has any meaning since it will be my middle name, Lee. I never changed my name when I got married and we discussed back then that we would only be giving the future child DH's last name.

I never changed my name when I got married and we discussed back then that we would only be giving the future child DH's last name. I haven't really been drawn to any names that go both ways. Ours are all very traditionally masculine or feminine, so we have to pick one of each. But If I liked any names like Jamie or Riley or Lee or things like that I might consider it for either.
Our name is a bit odd, too. No numbers, simbols, random silence letters, etc. But according to the internet there is fewer than 1000 people in the us with that name. But at least it won't have to be like me and have 6 people in its graduating class with the same first name. :-)

Dh and I are in trouble if #2 is a girl. Delilah Rose was literally the ONLY girls name we agreed on. I've always loved Norah but DH vetoed. He said I could have it this time around but I don't want to use a name DH doesn't like. I want to use Monroe as a middle name (because I'm not crazy about Norma or Marilyn) but DH isn't having it. Sad face. Our boys name was Liam Jacob but I'm afraid Liam is too common now. Jacob was my great grandfather, so that will likely stay. I love Noah but that's our cat's name, so, yeah. I also love Isaac (and most other biblical names) but DH isn't a fan. SIL is gunning for Declan. One of my friends named her son Rhett and I kinda love it but won't "steal" it. Norah Jean would be so cute though! Our boy's name will most likely be Jacob William, so just backwards of yours plus a few letters. :-p This was always my favorite boys name! But William has been used a lot with my friends and family lately so if I get my way with Jacob, we would use Jacob Michael.

Late to this party. DH and I are pretty set on names. If it's a boy, Brian August (my Dad's FN, DH's MN). If it's a girl, Elizabeth Lee (my grandma's first name, DH's mom's middle name). BIL was a Bryan, so similarities there are good.
PandP, would your DH consider a name like Eleanor or Eleanora, with "Norah" being the baby's nickname? Or is that something that both of you would veto?

Glad you bumped it @sweetmelody11, I just read through thanks to it snippet17 I love Jordan for either a boy or girl, but H's cousin married one. While I'm cool with family names we won't use any of our cousins or their kids names, we'd use older relatives if doing that. Which sadly scratches off some of my favorites. dirrtybutter if my grandmother had named me I would have been Louise, my parents firmly vetoed. Dad wanted to name me Barbara, but he'd dated one so obviously that got nixed too. H and I haven't talked names but I've recently been loving Emma for a girl, which probably means the only cousin pregnant right now will use it lol.

But luckily no one close to us got pregnant (except my friend due in the summer) since I started TTC. Both the first and middle name are unisex so it could have easily happened. H and I loathe having popular names and both of us have thought about changing our names to something else one point in our lives, so we didn't want to do that to our child so it would be a surprise if anyone picked the baby's name.

Barb, Babs, just no. I had a step-sister for a few years who was Emma so nope haha. I like so few names And the names I do like, H hates! Or they don't quite go together. I feel you on the names getting used. We had picked Arya, and then Roommate used it on his dog Which I get, we were not going to have kids for years but stillllllll Yeah I'm not a fan of Barbara, and my moms BFF got a stepdaughter with that name not long after I came along; we spent a lot of time with them so it would have been confusing to boot. Plus while she didn't seem to mind (granted the only person I heard call her it were her parents) if people started calling me Barbie I would probably have punched them. Emma reminds me of a sweet little girl I used to babysit, but I feel you- associations make a HUGE difference in what you like. And how about Angela Louise since YH only likes Angela as a FN? I love Rose as a MN too.

I asked H about Warwick and Zonaida. He said we are having a baby, not a wizard. HE DOESN'T KNOW THAT. Literal LOL, I almost spit my drink out. And SOOOOO many nixed names. H is greek so there are lots of cousins with lots of babies. Only a few have names I'd pick but it sucks not being able to use them (I mean I know we COULD, but we already associate them with another kid). Ex's we're pretty lucky, I only like one of my ex's names which is NBD to cross off and H only has one ex I would veto the name of based on that and it's one I'd nix anyways b/c of it's association with masturbation jokes. snippet17 I prefer names that aren't super common, but it seems to vary so much with the year so we'll have to see the popularity lists once we get KU. Some (like H's name) are perpetually popular, but something like Ava has taken off where I know several little girls with the name but I've only ever met one person our generation or older with it.

We agreed on Louise! I just can't think of middle names to go with it. I like Angela, but H likes it only as a first name. I also like it BUT it's my BFF's FN. It's funny because I've been teasing her for a few years that I'm going to name all future kids Angela regardless of sex. Louise Mabel (He says no) Louise Freya (He says no) Louise Rose (Nope) (This is my favorite) Haley Rose (Nope) Angela Rose (Haven't asked him but probably no because of the Rose) I want two girls and a boy. But genetics so who knows! What if we only get one girl? Or no girls? I really want girls. I'm going to look at the family tree chunks I have just to see if I see something I like. I don't plan on using them in a "honor" way, just if I like it I like it. I'll post the funny ones! Louise Nicole. Though I may be biased......

Ah yes. H's family is Catholic. There are 31 in his generation between siblings and cousins (ranging in age from 10 to 40) and so far those cousins/siblings have 11 kids with lots more sure to come. There are already 3 Michaels, 3 James, 3 Johns, 3 Jacobs, 3 Carolyns, 2 Marys, 2 Matthews, etc. Lots of traditional Biblical names and now some trendier ones popping up in the kids. That sounds similar to my dad's side of the family. I am not even 100% sure how many 1st cousins I actually have, since I have some step cousins and the age range is confusing for me since I was not close to them. I have a 1st cousin who is in high school and my 1st cousin's daughter is a year younger then me. I think Jacob (as a first name) is one of the few male Biblical name that is not used.

Fun fact, our next door neighbors in my home town were named Kenneth and Barbara. Yes, I lived next door to Ken and Barbie. My uncle traced back my mother's side of the family to the 1600s. Not a lot of odd first names popping out, but some different last names (Baird and Stopp as opposed to the Smiths, Jacksons, and Chandlers). Friends of mine had a baby girl back in November, whom they named Pene.lope E.laine. Not for any particular family member, but they've shortened her names for the nickname "Penny Lane." I think there're some Beatles fans there... dirrtybutter, I hear you on the dislike of the name "Lee." I'm not a huge fan either, but it was DH's Mom's middle name, and he really wanted it incorporated in our little girl's name somehow. (Somewhat like how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made one of their daughter's middle names Diana). So now it's part of her planned middle name, waiting for her to arrive and take it.
