1) How far along are you?
2) Any complaints, compliments, AW moments, or issues?
3) Belly pictures or other preparation photos?
4) If you were attending an Anti-Valentine's party, either the day of or in days afterwards, what would you bring for food/entertainment contributions?

1) 25 weeks, 2 days 2) Back aches continue. Got my FMLA paperwork back from the doctor, and I'm officially restricted to lifting no more than 10 lbs, plus no prolonged periods of sitting or standing. So walking around the office at least twice per hour. Took my hospital tour yesterday, and I'm very impressed with the location! I had all my questions answered and then some! Happy to share question lists with others if desired Caught one of the cats trying to get into and curl up in the stroller last night. She thinks she's the only baby. 3) No belly photos, no updated prep photos. Will be trying to make my own Moby wraps, so I got the fabric and such yesterday to make em. Will post those photos depending on the success. Also picked up the dye for the curtain- given our "under the sea" nursery theme, I'm going to get a somewhat ruffled curtain, and dip dye it with blues and greens for ocean colors, leaving the top white like foam and cresting waves. 4) I'd bring Fireball, Devil's food cake, red velvet cake, and make spicy buffalo chicken dip. I'd also bring my deck of Cards Against Humanity.

6 weeks, 2 days
Feeling ok. Tired. I need it to be tomorrow. I've convinced myself something is wrong because I've been feeling better and my heart rate is lower. I just want to see taco chip and know everything is ok.
I'm off today so I'm just relaxing.

1. 37w2d 2. I had to get a brace for my wrist today. Sadly its not working yet and my hand still has the tingling feeling. Which means I won't be here as much since it happens the most when I am on my phone, sleeping, or on the laptop. Bored of the false labor signs. I am not there yet but I can see why some people take castrol oil. My anxiety is high about finding a pediatrician this week. And scheduling tours for that and in home day cares. 3. I will have to post when I get online. We take a bump photo every week and the nursey has been done for awhile. chipmunk - that sucks that you are on a 10 lb restriction. How is your company taking it? Mine would have left me go.

snippet17, fortunately for me, I work as an attorney in a legal agency. So the most I lift on a routine basis is copy paper and my laptop. My direct supervisor had two high risk pregnancies, so she's 100% on board the whole "chipmunk doesn't lift anything she doesn't absolutely have to" thing. We will all be moving to a different floor in a month or so, which will require removing all my stuff...including my mini fridge and filing cabinet. But the investigators in my section have been very protective of me since it came out I was expecting, and refused to let me lift anything they considered "heavy" (ie, the crock pot full of chicken dip) since that time. I'll probably bake cookies to thank them for helping me move all my stuff upstairs. (The big pieces of furniture, like the chairs, desks, bookcases, and filing cabinets, are all moved by a hired group). With DH, since I was restricted on light activity during the end of my first trimester/beginning of my second, due to a tiny in utero bleed, he's been extra insistent I not lift heavy stuff if I can help it. Unfortunately for him, the crib arrives today, and that means he gets to haul the box inside himself, with me providing supervision/guidance efforts. I expect we'll open it up in the living room, and take it upstairs piece by piece to put it together. I will NOT be allowed to put it together by myself tonight the way I did with the pack n play a few weeks ago.

Hi ladies! 1) How far along are you? 24 weeks tomorrow (the famous "viability" checkpoint!) 2) Any complaints, compliments, AW moments, or issues? Honestly my life has been so busy recently with vacation, DH about to start a new job, house hunting, busy stuff at work, etc. that I don't really have that much pregnancy-related news! I guess that's all a sign that things are going well. I hiked over 50 miles last week, and the only damage done is a blacked toenail on one of my feet, so I think I'm feeling good. DH and I did venture into Babies R Us today for the first time ever and tested a bunch of strollers. I felt a bit like an imposter in there. Sometimes it's so bizarre to think I'm actually having a baby! 3) Belly pictures or other preparation photos? Later I'll post one of my vacation photos of a pregnant lady on top of a mountain! Unfortunately I don't really look pregnant in any of the photos, just a bit fat 4) I was single for a LONG time and honestly I've never celebrated Valentine's Day, but I've been to several anti-Valentine's Day parties. They usually involved horror films and tequila.

H and I are ass holes. We are tapping lightly on my belly and the baby hates it. And I am giggling like I am drunk (I am not).

engr0308 We did end up doing the observatory star party and it was so awesome! Thanks a million for the recommendation - I doubt I would have come across it otherwise. We also spent a day in Marfa, saw art - Donald Judd stuff, some galleries, and the Prada Marfa. We also did a quick tour of the Big Bend Coffee Roasters facility (which I just noticed was next door to our hotel - we just walked in and got a private show! And walked out with a pound of freshly-roasted coffee. Yum!). Then we went to Big Bend. We did a TON of hiking, including one extra-long 15 miler to the South Rim, which I kept reading was the "quintessential" hike of Texas. I was exhausted at the end of the day, but it was so beautiful up there! Views for hundreds of miles across the Rio Grande and into Mexico. @jennylee oh goody! I totally have my eye on the BOB Sport Utility. I'm kind of obsessed with it actually. I think we'll get a City Mini for everyday city use to start with, but the heavy-duty jogging stroller may be a post-delivery splurge at some point snippet17 I've totally been poking my belly to get the baby to kick, sometimes so I can remind myself he's in there when he's been quiet for too long, and also sometimes for my husband so he can feel the kicks 'cause he loves that. So yeah, perhaps I have some abusive mothering tendencies...

So yeah, perhaps I have some abusive mothering tendencies... They show up quite often second-hand, and are so sturdy that they wear really well. I'm totally obsessed with mine too. SIL gave us ours, and I couldn't be happier with it. We have the weather shield, and I call it "the spaceship." A friend has the Jeep heavy-duty stroller which she loves as well - it was my second choice (the shocks weren't quite as good). The Thule was my third choice, but only because I was interested in the cross-country ski conversion kit. It's a great idea to wait for a used one to come available, seeing as we won't need it right away. My husband's an expert used stuff bargain hunter - I may place him on the job. The Thules seem to be well-reviewed but I won't be skiing with it (though that's a sport I keep thinking of taking up!) and I really want those chunky wheels and shocks for trail use. Do you use a backpack carrier by any chance? That's another thing we're strongly considering but planning to find used... For hiking. We probably won't want it until next year (baby will still be a newborn this summer hiking season). Deuter makes some that look really nice. Osprey also.

Thank you guys. I am so incredibly nervous. I had a complete meltdown last night about how scared I was, so that was fun for DH. I just want it to be 10:30. I have no idea how I'm going to get any work done before it's time to leave.

((( LMC)) Thinking of you! snippet17, when DH came to bed last night, I of course work up, and after talking for a few minutes, flipped onto my back. DH put a hand on my belly, and got a hard kick in return (actually saw his hand move). Surprised the hell out of him (I told him she was getting stronger, but he's been hesitant to press my belly with any degree of firmness, because he's "afraid he'll squish her"), and he spent several minutes feeling around at different kicks, before starting to tap his fingers on my belly trying to get her to kick just as hard as before. Once I stopped laughing at his teasing the baby, I had to tell him to knock it off- I wanted to go back to sleep, and it's hard when there's all that movement going on; I just want to focus on feeling all of it and guessing if it was a foot or a fist!

Yup! lol Well, I have it, and D will be big enough for it this summer! I used to ski with DD in my old one, but I need to up my skills before doing that again! That's why I was considering the Thule. The wheels aren't what I wanted though, so the BOB won. I got my backpack second hand from a friend: this is it. I buy from this company whenever I can - clothes, gear etc - you can't wear it out! And this is where SIL got our BOB, btw. Ooh, I've never heard of that brand but that's WAY more affordable that the Deuters and Ospreys. It looks like it may be a Canadian-only company though? Like the Canadian equivalent of REI? They appear to ship to the US for $19 though. DH has a fantasy about actually overnight backpacking with our son, which I'd love to do too, though I'm trying to be realistic about the possibility that he may not have the temperament for that - we'll just have to play it by ear. But if we do plan to backpack it will be essential to have extra storage space under the seat. Osprey makes one that has 40L gear storage, which is way more than most of the carriers.

yay, I'm so glad you had a good vacation gingerlady , and enjoyed the observatory!! Good luck LMC !! I just made my first doctor's appointment for March 8. I'll be 7 weeks, but they're doing it then because my doctor is out the entire next week (stupid spring break). March 8 is also our second anniversary! So hopefully H will be able to go with me, and maybe we can just take the afternoon off since the appointment is at 2:30. It's ours too! Yay date twin! Sounds like an auspicious day for a baby appointment!

OK. SO. The tech saw a heartbeat. Little taco chip herself is measuring at 3mm. As far as we know, only one McBaby. She could see the heartbeat, but apparently my uterus tilts back and taco chip's position made it so she couldn't record it on the Doppler. However, she said it looked good and was measuring right for how far along that I am. She also said that normal babies measuring up to 7mm may not even show a heartbeat, so it was great that we saw it at 3mm. Here I am, aunties!

I saw one thing on the internet that says at 6 weeks, you'll be around 0.3 cm which is what I am. I saw another that said SIX MM. WHAT?

YOU'RE ALL AWESOME. Instead of doing work since I got back, I googled a lot. I found this: "The fetal pole grows at a rate of about 1 mm a day, starting at the 6th week of gestational age. Thus, a simple way to "date" an early pregnancy is to add the length of the fetus (in mm) to 6 weeks. Using this method, a fetal pole measuring 5 mm would have a gestational age of 6 weeks and 5 days."
I'm 6 weeks, 3 days; therefore, 3mm should be right on target!!!

Yay LMC!!!! And don't pay too much attention to what you see on the internet. The difference between 3mm and 6mm sounds enormous but it's actually negligible because embryos can be off in their timing by quite a bit that early on, and they grow FAST. If your doc was happy then it's all good Before you know it taco chip will be 13 inches long (I read that for 24 weeks earlier today and then pulled out a ruler - holy cow! That's HUGE!)
