I can't stand when parents name a kid one thing, but fully intend on calling them something else. My mom teaches kindergarten. She has horror stories of five year old who don't know their real name and won't answer to it. So then she has to teach them their real name (and how to spell/write it) but also their used name. It gets really confusing for the kids. I also get irritates by juniors and thirds and whatever. I just feel like it takes away from the individuality of a name. There are other ways of continuing a family name or naming a kid after a parent. Example: I am named after my dad. My parents gave me the feminine version of his name (Ray/Rachel) as well as his initials. I always thought that was super cool growing up. I want to so something similar for our kids eventually. This is what we plan to do with our potential future first son & daughter. My name is Kristen (if my username wasn't a red flag) so if we have a son his middle name will be Christian(middle because I like Lucca as a first name better). And we like Gianna for a girl which is similar to my H's name.

Emma is on the list of names that I think are cute for little girls in dresses and pigtails and which stop being cute by like age 10. Molly also falls into this category. I feel like Maggie should too, but gets a pass if it's short for Margaret since that's a legit adult name.

I hate the name Chad. I was bullied by a Chad in middle school. In fact, I don't think I've ever met a nice person named Chad. Also, it makes me think of the 2000 presidential election. . That's my H's name. I'm sorry you've never met a nice Chad. They do exist.

I used to hate everyone named Chad because of an elementary school bully, but then I had a wonderful friend in college (and peripherally still) named Chad who is a great guy. But I still wouldn't pick the name, because I don't care for it.

I also don't like names that are "unisex." And I mean all the Peytons, Skyler(ar)s, Camerons. Also, don't take a traditional boy name and give it to your girl. Oh, you named your little girl George? No, that's not cute. I have a cousin who named her daughter Carson. They also had a son shortly after, so since they are near the same age, and I rarely see them, I had a hard time remembering which was the boy, which was the girl. Car son... It has SON at the end. It's a name for a son, not a daughter! ::facepalm:: I don't like boy names for girls as it is - but these kinds of names just take the cake for me! I don't know if this has been mentioned yet and I might be in the minority here but I hate when people use girl names for boys. Granted most of the names that this happens with are traditionally unisex names that have become girl names in the past 100 years or so but no guy wants to walk around with the name Shannon or Ashley... Just saying. I agree with this. I know a woman named Shannon who once had someone say to her (on the phone) "Oh, you're a boy Shannon, not a girl Shannon!". She was not amused. I don't even know why anyone would think that's ok to say, even if it was true. There's no reason to make someone feel awkward about their name. We used to get changes for some jobs through emails from someone named Corvette. We all assumed this was a female. Then my boss called Corvette one day to discuss one of the changes and was very surprised to hear someone with a very deep male voice answer the phone. We all discussed our surprise, but he sure didn't say anything to him on the phone about it! This drives me crazy! I don't know if it's because I don't have a short version of my name, no nickname or anything. But husband's god children go by their short names/nicknames. From day one - the parents called them by those names instead of their full names. It's written on things, it's all over the place. I remember when I asked god-daughter to write her name when she was learning how to write. She wrote her three letter nickname instead of her full name (which was six letters). Goodness gracious, it's not that hard! If a kid is learning how to write their name, shouldn't they learn how to write their full name?!? This has driven me crazy ever since. Now they are in school and people are calling them by their full names. Their mom heard about this and is actually frustrated by it. "She's 'Liv', not 'Olivia'!" No, actually... You named her Olivia. Heck, I call her by her full name most of the time...

I had a step-sister for a few years. That's why I hate Emma. She was awful. That sounds... tumultuous?

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis named their daughter Wyatt. WHY?!? Isn't that usually a guys name? The only Wyatt I know of is Wyatt Earp and the "Wyatt family" from WWE, but it still seems to be more of a guy name.

I also hate Scout. I like Neveah. Scout is a dog's name. In my mind, it'd be like naming your child Fido or Spot or something.

Plus it would be weird to call a person over the age of 13 Scout. To be fair, it's a fantastic dog name. I know an adorable jack russell named Scout. People don't think when they give kids weird names sometimes. My friend's poor sister is named Rex*elle (asterix is to make it ungoogleable). She's had to go through 40 years of confusion/embarrassment and hates her name.

I've always considered Mark to be the human equivalent of Spot, though. I don't dislike Mark as a name, but in the back of my mind, I'm always thinking Spot.

I hate the name Brock. I'm in love with Brock Sampson on venture brothers, but anyone else named Brock? Eww. I think one of the reason I don't like Brock Lesnar is due to his name.
